Taipei MRT Xinyi Songshan Line Systemwide Electrical & Mechanical Work--Power Supply System Project Contracted by CTCI Won Outstanding Engineering Award by the Chinese Institute of Engineers

The project “Taipei MRT Xinyi Songshan Line Systemwide Electrical & Mechanical Work— Power Supply System” is contracted by the Kawasaki/Marubeni/CTCI (KMC) Consortium. Through the integration of expertise in rail engineering and rich experience of the KMC Consortium and the cooperation by supervisory authorities and Taipei Rapid Transit Corporation, the project had been completed and open to traffic on schedule, hence finalizing the initial network plan approved by the Executive Yuan in 1986 for Taipei Metropolitan Area. The project not only is recognized with Outstanding Engineering Award by the Chinese Institute of Engineers, but also won the 2011 Superiority Award on Construction Audit by Department of Rapid Transit Systems (DORTS), Taipei City Government.

The challenge and complexity for Taipei MRT Xinyi Songshan Line Project is huge compared with construction work of other sections for Taipei metro, considering that the sections link with the existing MRT routes when completed, the related construction integration and testing works have to be undertaken at night, with the team take shifts during non-operating hours, lest it may impact the daily operations and safety during the service hours. The completion of Taipei MRT Xinyi Songshan Line Project has effectively enhanced the traffic condition and air quality in Taipei Metropolitan Area, making tangible contributions for making Taipei a healthy international city.
