The US CTCI Selected as Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index Constituent for the 10th Year
TAIPEI, December 23, 2024- CTCI Corporation, a global engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) services provider, announced today that it has consecutively been selected for the tenth year as a constituent of the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index, according to the results released on December 13. CTCI dominates the Environmental, Social, and Governance dimensions of the construction & engineering industry group in S&P Global Corporate Sustainability Assessment, and has secured the leading position of construction & engineering industry group with an overall score of 87. CTCI is proud to become the only engineering services company in Taiwan to be included in the index.
This is the latest addition to CTCI Corp.’s recent honors in sustainability. Earlier, CTCI Corp. became an eight-time winner of Taiwan’s Top 10 Sustainable Service Business Award, a leader among the service industry, and received the Annual Best Corporate Sustainability Reporting Award for the Service Industry. These recognitions are a part of Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards.
John T. Yu, CTCI Group Chairman, remarked: “As a Guardian of Sustainable Earth, CTCI joins hands with its partners to create energy-saving, emissions-reducing Green Engineering projects. Protecting the world with our expertise is what we do, and so is fulfilling our social responsibilities. We connect our business operations to the sustainable goals, as well as enroot ESG practices into employees’ daily routine. The employee engagement survey shows that the company’s ESG practices have stood out for years as what the employees most identify with, reaching 86%. With great ESG performance, business grows.”
In 2023, CTCI secured unprecedentedly 111.8 billion NTD in new contracts, and saw 103.5 billion NTD in revenue, 346.9 billion NTD in backlog. Over 60% of its business is related to low-carbon and eco-friendly projects, a sign that CTCI is bringing benefit to the environment while keeping its bottom line. With a keen eye on the trend, it is actively adjusting in search of business opportunity, and supporting the government policy. CTCI is the EPC contractor for Taiwan's first carbon capture and storage (CCS) facilities, and is also involved in a CCS facility trial EPC project commissioned by a major chip-making company. As Taiwan's first EPC company with CCS project experience up- and downstream, CTCI is making enormous contribution to the national progress to achieving net-zero emissions.
With regard to CTCI’s efforts on the Environmental Dimension, the company takes a holistic approach in cutting its carbon footprints, ensuring that all stages within an engineering project’s lifecycle-- from engineering, procurement, construction, operation, to dismantle-- can contribute to emissions reduction. It also teamed up with partners to build a green supply chain and foster “greener” transformation.
This year, CTCI Corp. became the first engineering services company in Taiwan whose near-term and long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). By 2030, CTCI Corp. commits to reduce absolute scope 1 (direct emissions) and scope 2 (indirect emissions derived from electricity) GHG emissions by 45% from a 2022 base year. Through coaching and incentives- offered by CTCI’s Supplier Alliance for Net Zero Emissions- CTCI encourages its scope-3 suppliers to set their own science-based targets by 2028.
CTCI stands firm on its commitment to zero-deforestation and biodiversity hotspot analysis when implementing any project worldwide. It is a signatory of Business for Nature’s Call to Action, and is one of the early adopters of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), each of which indicate CTCI’s resolve on safeguarding biodiversity.
In terms of the Social Dimension, CTCI— through its charitable arm CTCI Education Foundation— aligns its actions with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, actively making a social impact by collaborating with local communities. Things that CTCI does include giving social care, supporting welfare organizations, supporting green consumption, promoting local cultures, engagement in ecological issues, organizing volunteer programs, and promoting sustainable engineering education.
CTCI has built workplace institutions based on diversity, equity and inclusion principles, and spared no effort in helping employees achieve work-life balance. As a supporter of TISFD (Taskforce on Inequality and Social-related Financial Disclosures), CTCI places importance on social engagement, and social-economic development that are not just stronger, but fairer. As always, CTCI will continue to fulfill its ESG vision as “a Guardian of Sustainable Earth” and uphold the spirit as the “Most Reliable” brand, bringing sustainability and trust wherever it goes.
