Taiwan Guardian of Sustainable Earth: CTCI Sustains Position as Top ESG Performer by the Global Views Monthly

Taipei, May 3, 2024- CTCI Group has demonstrated remarkable performance in promoting environment, social and governance (ESG) sustainable development, bagging three prizes for the ESG Award by Global Views Monthly, including top prize winner in comprehensive performance under Service Industry Category, role model awards in talent development and low-carbon operation category. Notably, CTCI has received the comprehensive performance award for three consecutive years. The award ceremony was held in Shangri-La Far Eastern, Taipei on May 2, with CTCI Group Chairman John T. Yu attending the award ceremony personally to receive the honor.

Organized annually by the Global Views Monthly, the ESG Award has been known for its high recognition in the field of sustainability, with award recipients being the top performer in promoting sustainability. In his acceptance speech, Group Chairman Yu stated that, “Every factory, facility and building needs to undergo engineering and construction by an engineering company. As a leading engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) project contractor and one of the top 100 globally, it is our responsibility to integrate the sustainability mindset into project operation to create an array of green engineering projects. Committed to the goal of being a “Guardian of Sustainable Earth,” CTCI aims to promote sustainability with its engineering expertise and unleash the greatest engineering influence with the industry and supply chains as a corporate citizen.”
CTCI’s ESG achievements has gained widespread recognition. In terms of corporate governance, CTCI upholds the value of integrity and trust, and sees a steady growth in revenue. In 2023, CTCI Group achieved an amount of NT$111.8 billion in new contract, with backlog projects and combined revenue reaching historical highs at NT$346.9 billion and NT$103.5 billion respectively. In the environmental aspect, CTCI not only promotes "green projects" that balance economic and environmental concerns as its core business, but has passed the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) review for carbon emissions reduction goals, setting a decarbonization timeline aligned with the 1.5°C target that aims to reduce carbon emissions by 45% by 2030 and achieve net-zero by 2050. Regarding biodiversity, CTCI has committed to achieving No Net Loss (NNL), Net Positive Impact (NPI), and Zero Deforestation standards by 2050. CTCI is also one of the Early Adopters of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), disclosing financial information related to nature conservation initiatives.
In the realm of social responsibility, CTCI puts emphasis on talent incubation and actively engages in creating a diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI) workplace. Meanwhile, centering on the sustainable education, CTCI Education Foundation not only helps the government incubate talents, but became an admitted non-governmental organization (NGO) observer of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC), joining the 28th Conference of the Parties (COP28) that took place in Dubai, the United Arab Emirates in 2023, to share Taiwan's efforts towards sustainability with the world.
As a sustainable pioneer in the construction and engineering sector, CTCI has been awarded numerous domestic and international honors. Some of the achievements include remaining top 1% status in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook Ranking in 2024, being selected as a component of the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for the ninth consecutive time that keeps it ranking first in the global construction and engineering sector, receiving top 10 domestic companies sustainability model award of Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) for seven consecutive years, and scoring top 5% in corporate governance evaluation by Taiwan Stock Exchange (TWSE) for the eighth time.

Moreover, CTCI gained recognition from MSCI ESG ratings, received leadership level in carbon disclosure project (CDP), Excellence in Corporate Social Responsibility Award by CommonWealth Magazine, and Diversity for Better Tomorrow Award for creating a friendly work environment. CTCI is committed to fulfilling it role as a “Guardian of Sustainable Earth,” leading the world into a better future.
