Taiwan A Sustainable Pioneer in Taiwan Engineering Industry: CTCI’s Greenhouse Gas Emissions Reduction Targets Approved by SBTi
TAIPEI, March 1, 2024- CTCI Corp., the leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company in Taiwan, is proud to announce that its near-term and long-term greenhouse gas emissions reduction targets, in line with a trajectory to keep global average temperature rise within 1.5°C as recommended by the Paris Agreement, have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi) after review. This achievement marks CTCI as the first EPC company in Taiwan to attain this status, advancing towards its net zero goals by 2050.
The SBTi is a collaboration between CDP, the United Nations Global Compact, the World Resources Institute (WRI), the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF), and one of the We Mean Business Coalition commitments. It is a global body enabling companies to set and announce emissions reduction targets in line with the latest climate science. The SBTi also independently assesses and approves companies’ targets to ensure they are not only scientifically sound but also practical.
By 2030, CTCI Corp. commits to reduce absolute scope 1 (direct emissions) and scope 2 (indirect emissions derived from electricity) GHG emissions by 45% from a 2022 base year, exceeding the 42% as suggested by the SBTi. To actively support sustainable supply chain management, CTCI Corporation also commits that 71% of its suppliers, covering purchased goods and services by emissions, will have science-based targets by 2028, thereby boosting its supply chain in the net zero direction.
By participating in green engineering projects that are both economically and environmentally friendly, CTCI is addressing the challenges of climate change within the engineering profession.
