Taiwan CTCI Contributes to Building a Sustainable Transport System in Greater Taipei as Taipei MRT Wanda Line Unveils Its First Train
TAIPEI, Nov. 11, 2024-CTCI Corp., Taiwan’s leading Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) service company, and French transportation solutions provider Alstom jointly secured the contract to provide system-wide electrical and mechanical (E&M) work for Taipei City Government’s Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line Phase 1&2. CTCI has provided EPC work for Power Supply, Trackwork, Depot Equipment, Communication and Automatic Fare Collection systems while Alstom has spearheaded the design, manufacturing, and integration of Rolling Stock, Signaling and Platform Screen Doors (PSD). On November 11, the first four-car train for the Wanda line was unveiled at a ceremony held at Jingcheng Depot.
The train is capable of carrying 700 passengers. Static and dynamic testing, along with interface testing with the operating control system and communication system, are later being conducted to ensure a safe and comfortable journey for passengers. The arrival of the first train marks a significant milestone as the contractors move one step closer to inauguration.
The unveiling ceremony was jointly hosted by Chiang Wan-an, Mayor of Taipei City, and Hou Yu-ih, Mayor of New Taipei City. Executives from both CTCI and Alstom also joined the ceremony. Michael Yang, Chairman of CTCI, remarked, “The stinger power system needed for the train testing and the tracks for shunting are ready. The project team will conduct thorough and sufficient testing on the train’s functionality and safety. We are building a sustainable transportation system for the Greater Taipei area with the most reliable engineering services.”
CTCI has been dedicated to the transportation sector for over three decades, pioneering E&M work for Taiwan's metro systems. The Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line in this project is a medium-capacity metro line that will adopt Alstom’s driverless trains. Once completed, the 22.8-km Wanda-Zhonghe-Shulin Line will enhance Taipei’s metro network by connecting the Xindian Line, Circular Line, Tucheng Line, and Xinzhuang Line. CTCI will continue to deliver its vision of being the “Most Reliable Global Engineering Service Team” and align with the inauguration goals of the city governments, realizing a low-carbon, sustainable transportation system.
