Taiwan CTCI Group Chairman John Yu, Who Showed Taiwan’s Engineering Prowess to the World, Was Named ITRI Laureate
HSINCHU, September 15, 2025- CTCI is pleased to announce that its Group Chairman John Yu was named an ITRI Laureate of Year 2025 by Taiwan’s prestigious institution, Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI). Throughout the five-decade-long engineering career, Mr. Yu witnessed and took part in the transformation of the Taiwanese economy through major infrastructural projects. Thanks to his leadership, Mr. Yu helped elevated CTCI’s position in becoming the leading engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) group in Taiwan and among the world’s top 100, which raised the nation’s profile globally with its engineering prowess and contribution.
Mr. Yu received the honor today from the Vice President of the Republic of China (Taiwan) Bi-khim Hsiao at the ITRI Laureate Awards Ceremony, a joint event which also celebrated the 52nd anniversary of the foundation of the institution.
ITRI is a world-class research institution with a mission to aid industrial development with technological R&D, create economic value, and improve social wellbeing. It is also the largest and one of the most representative research institutions in Taiwan. ITRI Laureate is an honorary position awarded to persons who have made outstanding contributions to industrial development and public wellbeing through technological progress.
In receiving the honor, Mr. Yu appreciated the long-time partnership between ITRI and CTCI, which has been instrumental in the development of the nation’s industry. He attributed his personal honor to the hard work of 8,000 CTCI staff across the world, without whom he could not have climbed onto the shoulders of “CTCI Giant” and drew attention. To him, the honor is not just a personal recognition but also a wider encouragement for CTCI employees and the entire industry.
Vested with a vision to transform CTCI into “the most reliable global engineering services provider,” Mr. Yu’s widely acclaimed leadership has earned him many accolades, including FEIAP Engineer of the Year and Honorary Fellow; Honorary Doctorate Degree of National Central University; GCSA Outstanding Professional; HBR Taiwan Top 100 Best-Performing CEOs; HBR Digital Transformation Leadership Award; and CIE Engineering Medal.
Under his helm, CTCI has aligned its commitments to the global net zero and sustainability trend. For many years, CTCI has been involved in “green engineering projects” that feature a balance between corporate profits and environmental protection. Thanks to his effort, CTCI has earned recognition in terms of sustainability, both domestically and abroad. Recognitions include being included as component in the Dow Jones Best-in-Class Emerging Markets Index for ten years in a row; ranks Top 1% in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook for three years, the only engineering company in the world with such accomplishment; and being selected as one of Taiwan’s Top 10 Sustainable Service Businesses for eight consecutive years.
Given Mr. Yu’s contributions and excellent leadership, the ITRI Laureate honor is truly deserved.
