CTCI Wins Water Affairs Golden Quality Award for Landmark Achievement
TAIPEI, December 4, 2024- CTCI is pleased to announce that it is the winner of this year’s Water Affairs Golden Quality Award for the landmark TSMC Southern Taiwan Science Park Water Reclamation Plant project that it executed. Ming-Shyan Lee, President of CTCI Corp., accepted the honor on behalf of CTCI at the awards ceremony on December 3.
This award is organized by Water Affairs Organization Taiwan, in recognition of water service providers with proven record of innovation and excellent performance.
Being the world’s first water reclamation plant that regenerates industrial wastewater for the chip-making process, TSMC Southern Taiwan Science Park Water Reclamation Plant, which commenced operations in 2022, currently produces 20,000 tons of highly clean water per day, saving up to 30% of city water needed for the water-intensive chip production at TSMC’s local plant. CTCI was entrusted by TSMC in plant investment, design, construction, and 20-year operation.
The plant is a prime example indicating CTCI’s commitment to the sustainability of water resources by leveraging innovative green technology and offering solutions to the chronic water scarcity crisis. It is also a testament to CTCI’s role as a Guardian of Sustainable Earth.
President Lee remarked, “Water reclamation is an important part of the government’s strategic policy that seeks to ensure water supply with technology. Thanks to the trust and support of TSMC, as well as the aid from ITRI (Industrial Technology Research Institute), CTCI has brought an innovative solution to relieve city water stress while contributing to TSMC’s sustainability effort. In terms of water reutilization, waste reduction, and industrial-academia collaboration, this plant is truly iconic.”
The plant adopts BioNET and flulidized bed crystallization technologies to significantly improve the quality of treated water. It consumes less energy, emits lower greenhouse gas emissions, and produces less sludge. A smart water affairs management system is in place to maximize the recovery rate of wastewater and lower environmental impact, while an AIoT precision dosing system allows the exact release of chemicals to achieve optimal wastewater treatment.
With over four decades of experience in the water sector, CTCI is an active player in the development of new water resources. So far, CTCI has executed five end-to-end water reclamation plant projects, each spanning across investment, construction, and operation. A significant amount of corporate resource has been allocated to developing wastewater treatment and water reclamation technologies. CTCI is also the EPC contractor for the first large-scale seawater desalination plant ever built in the nation (located in Hsinchu, Taiwan), currently in project stage. CTCI will continue to utilize its water expertise and jointly explore opportunities with its clients to improve water supply resilience through water resource diversification.
