Taiwan CTCI Chairman Yang Chairs the 115th Joint Annual Conference of the Chinese Institute of Engineers, Calling for Greater Youth Participation in Engineering to Enhance National Competitiveness

The 115th Joint Annual Conference of the Chinese Institute of Engineers and affiliated professional engineering societies was grandly held on June 5 at the China Steel Corporation Auditorium in Kaohsiung, attracting nearly 500 representatives from industry, government, academia, and research to participate. President Lai Ching-te sent a congratulatory message expressing recognition and support, and also received this year’s award recipients prior to the event, demonstrating the government’s strong commitment to engineering development and talent cultivation. Lee Yi-De, Deputy Minister of the Public Construction Commission, Executive Yuan, was invited to deliver remarks at the event and present awards to distinguished professionals recognized for outstanding achievements and contributions in the engineering field.

As Taiwan’s largest engineering association, the Chinese Institute of Engineers is chaired this year by Michael Yang, Chairman of CTCI Group, with Mei-Chen Hu, General Manager of CTCI’s Brand Management Division, serving as Secretary-General. Founded in 1912, the Chinese Institute of Engineers is the oldest engineering society in Taiwan. This year’s conference, themed “Overcoming Trials, Building Resilience,” focused on digital technology, low-carbon transition, and sustainable innovation, reflecting global trends in addressing climate change and energy transformation within the engineering industry. In his remarks, President Yang stated that engineering infrastructure forms a cornerstone of national development. In the face of climate change and the rise of digital transformation, engineering professionals carry the mission of advancing social progress and national sustainability. He also noted the rapid growth of Taiwan’s semiconductor industry and expressed hope that more young generations will join the engineering field, strengthening industrial resilience and national competitiveness through cross-generational collaboration.
CTCI Group has long been committed to promoting the development of the engineering industry and actively participates in professional associations and institutional affairs, working alongside industry peers to enhance Taiwan’s engineering capabilities and foster industrial co-prosperity. At this critical stage of industrial upgrading, the conference also invited Dean Chen Chia-Lin of National Taiwan University College of Management to deliver a keynote speech on “Artificial Intelligence Meets Sustainable Development,” a theme closely aligned with CTCI’s strategic direction. In recent years, leveraging its extensive experience in energy, petrochemical, transportation, and environmental engineering, CTCI has actively advanced “green engineering” and digital transformation. By integrating AI-assisted design optimization, big data analytics, and intelligent project management, the Group has significantly improved execution efficiency while striving to set a benchmark for industry transformation, co-creating a low-carbon, resilient, and sustainable future.
