Taiwan CTCI Launches Taichung Metro Blue Line E&M Project to Strengthen Urban Transit Infrastructure

TAICHUNG, Jun. 26, 2025 –CTCI Corporation, Taiwan’s leading EPC contractor, has officially commenced work on the Taichung Metro Blue Line BM01 turnkey project for the E&M systems, depot, and main power substation. The groundbreaking ceremony is held on June 26, marking a significant milestone in the development of Taichung's second metro line.

The new Blue Line will connect key transportation hubs including Shalu Station and Taichung Main Station. Upon completion in 2034, it will integrate seamlessly with the existing Green Line (Wenxin-Beitun Line)—which CTCI also contributed to—forming a convenient cross-shaped metro network that significantly enhances Taichung’s public transportation system.
The E&M project is being carried out by a joint venture led by CTCI and comprising ST Engineering Urban Solutions Ltd. (Singapore), Alstom Transport S.A. (France), and Hyundai Rotem Company (Korea). Spanning a total length of 24.78 kilometers, the line will run from Taichung Port in the west to the new Jianguo Market in the east, serving as a vital blue artery between the coastal area and the city center. The line will traverse eight districts and 53 neighborhoods, featuring 20 stations—8 elevated and 12 underground—as well as one five-level depot.
CTCI is responsible for delivering the project’s core power supply system. With its proven track record in metro E&M system integration and its successful execution of the Green Line, CTCI is confident in delivering this landmark infrastructure on time and with the highest quality, working in close collaboration with international partners to advance urban development in Taichung.
With over 30 years of experience in the transportation sector, CTCI holds the highest market share for metro E&M system projects in Taiwan. The company has been a key contributor to major metro lines, including the Taipei MRT Muzha Line—Taiwan’s first metro system—as well as the Nangang-Banqiao, Tucheng, Xinzhuang-Luzhou, Xinyi-Songshan, Wanda, and Circular Lines. Its achievements also extend to the Taichung Green Line and the Kaohsiung Orange Line.
Internationally, CTCI has expanded its presence by participating in metro and rail projects such as Singapore’s Downtown Line, Thomson–East Coast Line, and the expansion of the Gali Batu Depot. Renowned for its technical expertise and project execution capabilities, CTCI remains committed to delivering safe, reliable, and sustainable transportation infrastructure under its mission to be “the most reliable global engineering services provider,” helping shape a greener, more connected urban future.
