Taiwan Splashing Away Homesickness as CTCI’s Migrant Workers Joyfully Celebrate Thai New Year

KAOHSIUNG, April 14, 2025- For 1,500 Thai workers at Kaohsiung’s Hsingta Power Plant, it was time of the year to put down the rebar and bags of cement, and get soaking wet. On April 13, CTCI held a large-scale Songkran event at the migrant worker dormitories in southern Taiwan, turning ordinary sites into lively venues for Thai New Year celebrations. Kicked off with blessings from the chanting monk, the day was filled with joy and laughter as workers and guests enjoyed water splashing, traditional Thai dance, Thai barbecue, and Sepak Takraw—also known as kick volleyball.

Speaking on behalf of CTCI, Kuo-Long Tsai, President of Infrastructure, Environment, and Power Business Operations, said the celebrations at Hsingta site was one of the many Songkran events held by CTCI across all construction sites in Taiwan, under the auspices of the Labor Bureau. He expressed his gratitude to over 3,500 Thai workers who came from afar to take part in CTCI’s projects, and noted that these events might help ease their homesickness, bring them joy and a sense of belonging, while connecting culturally the peoples of two nations for stronger cohesion and mutual understanding.
A few migrant workers mentioned that they felt motivated to work harder for the local infrastructure projects after attending the event, as they appreciated the thoughts and respect CTCI had put into their hometown festival.
Notable guests invited to the event included the Deputy Director-General of Kaohsiung City’s Labor Affairs Bureau Shi-Wei Chen, the Director of Thailand Trade and Economic Office’s Labor Division in Kaohsiung Nutchyawach Sanguanchaiyakrit, and the Director of Southern Construction Division under Taipower’s Nuclear and Thermal Power Generation Engineering Department Chi-Shiang Huang.
The Songkran event is one of the many examples that shows CTCI Group’s extensive care for not just its 8,000 employees globally but also for the migrant workers. Other migrant worker benefits that CTCI provides include free health checkups, cancer screening, health issues monitoring, medical referral, and Chinese language courses. As the leading engineering, procurement, and construction services provider in Taiwan and among the world’s top 100, CTCI brings people across ethnicities, religions, and sexes together, working happily in a healthy, safe, and friendly work environment that values diversity, equity, and inclusion.
