Taiwan CTCI Beijing Achieves Mechanical Completion for BASF NIS Project in Zhanjiang

The Mechanical Completion Ceremony for BASF’s Non-Ionic Surfactant (NIS) Project at the BASF Integrated Site in Zhanjiang, China, was successfully held on October 31, 2025, marking a key milestone as the project moves into the commissioning phase, laying a solid foundation for its scheduled start-up.

CTCI Beijing and its parent company, CTCI Corporation, signed a framework agreement with BASF in March 2021 to become BASF’s Engineering Partner. In November 2021, CTCI Beijing was awarded the NIS Project, undertaking Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) as well as Engineering, Procurement services, and Construction Management (EPsCm) work.
Initiating FEED in November 2021, the project entered detailed design in September 2022, completed the 30% model review in January 2023, and broke ground on March 8, 2023. Despite challenges including pandemic-related workforce shortages, equipment delivery delays, and adverse weather conditions, the project team leveraged its extensive EPC and project management experience to maintain stable progress. As a result, the project achieved mechanical completion on schedule, reaching nearly 5 million safe working hours with zero lost-time injuries.
During the ceremony, BASF management expressed high appreciation for CTCI Beijing project team’s outstanding performance in quality, safety, cost and schedule control. They highlighted that although this is CTCI’s first participation in a large-scale BASF project as an Engineering Partner, the team’s professional execution demonstrated exceptional capability and reliability.
Mr. T.S. Zhang, Chairman of CTCI Beijing, was invited to deliver remarks at the ceremony. On behalf of the company, he expressed sincere gratitude for BASF’s trust and recognition, and emphasized that the project team will fully support the client’s upcoming commissioning activities to ensure smooth start-up. He also conveyed his anticipation for continued collaboration with BASF on future projects.
