Fostering Engineering Talents

In addition to traditional methods and criteria of evaluation on academic performance, we have also formulated a project research program that is related to CTCI's engineering practices. The goal of this program is to strengthen industrial and academic ties, and help students get onboard the job market as early as possible by commissioning academic engineering project research or school-based R&D project.

Participation in Academic and Professional Associations; External Initiatives

As a pioneer in the engineering services industry, CTCI actively participates in engineering-related academic associations and organizations, taking on important roles such as directors and supervisors. The company promotes the development of these organizations, advocates for initiatives, and fosters cross-border economic and cultural exchanges. At the same time, CTCI continues to support professional talent development to expand engineering influence, promote sustainable growth in the industry, and help enhance national competitiveness. In 2022, CTCI joined a total of 53 academic associations as group and individual members, participating in professional training, co-organizing and sponsoring events, contributing and sponsoring journals, and investing a total of TWD 5,808,683, subsidizing 526 participants.

In terms of climate lobbying, CTCI understands the risks posed by climate change and has been supporting the goals of the Paris Agreement, CTCI‘s climate lobbying policy is consistent in all jurisdictions of the group and is an external initiative. CTCI works with different organizations to control the increase of the Earth’s temperature within 2 degrees Celsius compared with the preindustrial era, and strives to pursue the harder goal of continuing to reduce the temperature rise to 1.5 degrees Celsius. Accordingly, we not only set our own net zero targets, but also actively participate in sustainability oriented organizations and initiatives, making green commitments. We are member of the Taiwan Alliance for Net Zero Emission (TANZE) and the Taiwan Net Zero Emissions Association(TNZEA), and act as the first executive director and director. In addition, we pay special attention to carbon capture, utilization, and storage technology (CCUS) by serving as the
convener of the "Carbon Capture Group" of the Taiwan US CCUS Industry Promotion Alliance (TUCA) to promote the development of net zero technology, foster the progress of Taiwan’s 2050 net zero transition goals, and seek international exchanges and cooperation with the industry, government, academia, and research communities. In addition, CTCI Education Foundation is the 11th NGO observer recognized by UNFCCC (United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change) in Taiwan, fully demonstrating the active role and achievements of NGOs in the climate summit. CTCI EF and CTCI co-hosted the 2022 Taiwan Sustainability Engineering Forum discusses issues related to sustainable development and net zero emissions. Besides, the White Paper on the 2031 Development Strategic compiled by the Chinese Institute of Engineers sets out the "goals", "strategies" and "action plans" for the next 10 years, including the promotion of green energy, carbon reduction and environmental sustainability. CTCI provides many suggestions have been made together with the engineering community.

Before joining an association on climate change, CTCI executive level will first review whether its actions are in line with the goals of the Paris Agreement. Upon joining the association, CTCI will regularly evaluate whether it has supported the Paris Agreement through lobbying and participation in public policies. If it is detected that the organization has any violations against the Paris Agreement. CTCI will issue a public statement, expressing its opinions on the association. If no improvement has been made, CTCI will withdraw from the association or even boycott it to express CTCI's focus on the issue of climate change and to ensure its actions are consistent and forceful.

Social Care

CTCI has been promoting green new life movement through green consumption within the company, inviting employees and their families to pay attention to their health, and jointly support environmental and social care through green consumption. As an environment-friendly consumption pattern, green consumption promotes moderate consumption and priority selection of green products with lower impact on the environment, upholding the principles of green consumption, Reduce, Reuse, Recycle, Economic, Ecological, and Equitable. On the World Earth Day (Apr. 22) last year, a green new life manufacturer voting activity was held, through wich colleagues selected 15 green manufacturers. Now, we have completed signing contracts with these manufacturers, and discussed relevant discounts with them via our Welfare Committee, hoping to provide colleagues with better consumption choices. Not only is the product ordering methods decided, but we also make sure the raw materials are acquired through the following methods: direct purchase from small farmers, organic planting, or purchase of special products. Besides, these products must be friendly in terms of reduction of additives, reuse, and fair trade. These manufactures shall also value the following principles in talent selection: care for the disadvantaged and equal employment. The selected manufacturers include: OKOGreen -Combining fair trade products with ecological habitat conservation, Greenvines -making the best choice for the environment through in-depth subtraction and pure maintenance, The CAN -focusing on community care and local culture, empowering youth and promoting sustainable development of the community environment, etc. The end goals are to support small farmers and fair trade, improve the health of employees and their families, and making the environment and society a better place.

Cloud E-Invoice
In 2022, CTCI held the "Cloud E-Invoice" campaign in response to the government policies and in cooperation with Shilin Office of National Taxation Bureau to promote digital invoices for easier checkouts, less paper use and carbon emission to make a difference in the world.
