Guardian of sustainable earth: CTCI Promotes Global Sustainability with Green Engineering

CTCI positions itself as a "Guardian of Sustainable Earth," with its global workforce committed to promoting environmentally friendly "green engineering" as a core mission. The Company actively engages with partners worldwide to build low carbon supply chains and support the green transition of various industries, working collaboratively across sectors to contribute to the sustainable development of the planet. On the path toward net-zero emissions, CTCI is the most reliable partner for clients around the world.

Innovative Green Technology Safeguarding Global Sustainability

In recent years, the impact of extreme climate events around the world has intensified. According to the World Economic Forum's Global Risks Report, the risks associated with the environment and natural capital will gradually become the most influential category of risks for the next decade. To mitigate global warming, international regulations on carbon emissions are becoming increasingly stringent, with institutionalized carbon pricing emerging as a key policy focus across nations. For example, the European Union’s Carbon Border Adjustment Mechanism (CBAM) and Taiwan’s carbon fee system exert profound impact on global supply chains, trade models, and industrial structures, thereby accelerating the green transition across industries.
CTCI actively advances sustainability through innovative technologies in collaboration with stakeholders across sectors, inspiring its global workforce to integrate innovation and responsibility into every aspect of their daily work. The Company continues to deepen the development and application of green and digital technologies, promoting intelligent and low-carbon construction models to accelerate energy conservation and emission reduction outcomes. In addition, the Group actively aligns with government policies and client demands to expand its range of services. In recent years, it has achieved several sustainability milestones through various engineering projects. For example, in the development of alternative water resources, following the construction of the world’s first water reclamation plant that recovers industrial wastewater for use in the semiconductor processes—the Southern Taiwan Science Park Water Reclamation Plant—CTCI has further extended its services to include seawater desalination facilities. In the field of carbon capture and storage (CCS), the Company is currently undertaking Taiwan’s first carbon storage onshore facility EPC project, and an EPC project for a carbon capture pilot plant for a leading international wafer manufacturer. In the green energy sector, CTCI continues to expand its services through a strong track record in solar photovoltaic and offshore wind power projects, while also actively investing in energy storage, emerging energy technologies, and decarbonized power solutions to build a clean energy system with low or zero carbon emissions. These projects exemplify CTCI’s strong commitment and capabilities in advancing sustainable development. We will continue to leverage cutting-edge technologies to provide clients with comprehensive net-zero solutions, safeguard the sustainability of our planet, and create maximum sustainable value.

Fulfilling Net-Zero Commitments through Cross Sector Collaboration for Shared Prosperity

In terms of environmental protection (E), CTCI is committed to sustainable development through its core engineering expertise, actively promoting “green engineering”. Integrating cross-field experiences and green technologies such as carbon emissions reduction, energy saving, pollution removal, waste reduction, and resources recycling, CTCI provides clients with comprehensive net-zero sustainability solutions by adopting a holistic lifecycle approach. Additionally, with its innovative research and development of smart value-added services including iEPC and digital twin integrating green energy and intelligence, CTCI accelerates the effectiveness of energy conservation and emissions reduction, striving to contribute to the sustainable development of the planet. For the detail of “green engineering”, please refer to a certain section in this report.

Through the promotion of “green engineering”, CTCI is steadily moving towards the “Net Zero Goal” while proactively exerting its influence by working with owners and supply chain partners to establish a “Green Supply Chain”, establishing “CTCI Net Zero Supplier Alliance” and holding “Taiwan Sustainable Engineering Forum” every year. CTCI hopes to lead the engineering industry in the implementation of sustainable development collaboratively.

Recognizing the importance of biodiversity protection in achieving global sustainability, CTCI launches the“Nature Vitality with Green Water”biodiversity project by drawing on its extensive experience in the water resources sector combined with the biodiversity awareness. This initiative prioritizes ecological protection by incorporating biodiversity concerns into engineering, procurement, and construction phases at global operational sites, with the goal of achieving No Net Loss (NNL) of nature and biodiversity by 2030 and Net Positive Impact (NPI) as well as Zero Deforestation by 2050. In addition, CTCI engages in external advocacy efforts, signing Business for Nature Call to Action and becoming one of the pioneering enterprises to participate in the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD), demonstrating CTCI’s commitment to ecosystem and biodiversity conservation through multifaceted actions.

Cultivating Global Talent with Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (DEI)

CTCI actively promotes carbon emissions management in fulfillment of its net-zero commitment. As the first engineering company in Taiwan whose emissions reduction targets set in line with a trajectory to keep temperature rise within 1.5°C have been approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), CTCI has set ambitious goals to achieve net-zero emissions by 2030 for its office operations and by 2050 for all global production sites. In collaboration with its supply chain partners, CTCI is driving carbon reduction efforts and has established the CTCI Supplier Alliance for Net Zero
Emissions to lay a solid foundation for the green transformation of the industry value chain.

In response to the dual challenges of climate change and biodiversity, CTCI integrated the frameworks of the TCFD and the TNFD in 2024 to publish its Climate and Nature related Financial Disclosures Report, establishing a model for the industry. As part of its biodiversity program, CTCI launched the Green Water Vitality project and committed to achieving No Net Loss (NNL) of biodiversity and zero deforestation at its operational sites by 2030. Looking further ahead, CTCI aims to attain a Net Positive Impact (NPI) on biodiversity at all operational sites by 2050, demonstrating its long
term commitment to environmental conservation. In addition, we are committed to fostering a diverse, equitable, and inclusive (DEI) workplace environment for our colleagues from 20 different nationalities worldwide. Through platforms such as CTCI Learning and various channels, including the CTCI Education Foundation, we actively cultivate sustainable talent and inject innovative momentum into the industry.

Conclusion

Looking ahead, CTCI will continue to innovate in green technologies with the vision of becoming ''the Most Reliable Global Engineering Services Provider.'' We will work hand-in-hand with partners worldwide to contribute to a sustainable planet and safeguard the world, driving global progress toward a better future.
