A Guardian of Sustainable Earth, CTCI Selected as Sustainability Yearbook's Top 1% Company in S&P Global ESG Score
CTCI Corporation announced on February 17 that it scores Top 1% in the Sustainability Yearbook 2023, according to S&P Global's ESG score information. CTCI obtained a stellar 86/100 score in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, the highest score among global peers in the construction & engineering industry, and is the only company winning this recognition in the sector.
The 2023 Sustainability Yearbook considered over 7,800 companies assessed in the 2022 Corporate Sustainability Assessment (CSA), covering 61 industries, with a total market value of USD 8.4 billion. Overall, 708 companies were selected for this year's Yearbook based on their S&P Global ESG Scores calculated from the CSA. CTCI has been selected for inclusion in the Dow Jones Sustainability Emerging Markets Index for the 8th consecutive year.
Based on the Dow Jones Sustainability Index results of the previous year, the Sustainability Yearbook is the most significant ESG assessment globally, providing detailed observations of companies' ESG performance.
CTCI is committed to pushing for global sustainability through its core competencies, seeing itself as "a guardian of sustainable Earth." Under the joint efforts of all 7,000 colleagues worldwide, CTCI has made remarkable achievements throughout the year. In addition to the annual revenue of NTD95.1 billion and the backlog of contracts in the amount of NTD328.9 billion, both of which hit record highs. The amount of contracts signed with clients remained as high as NTD102.5 billion.
Environment-wise, CTCI works with partners and suppliers along the value chain to increase sustainable impact through green technologies, green contracting, and green investment, hoping to deliver net zero EPC projects.
CTCI has also supported the Business Ambition for 1.5°C campaign led by the Science Based Targets initiative. Moreover, it is committed to achieving net zero emissions at its offices by 2030 and net zero emissions at all project sites by 2050.
As a leading EPC company, CTCI knows the importance of showing leadership and setting example for the industry. It joined the Taiwan Alliance for Net Zero Emission as the founding member. Every year, CTCI hosts sustainable engineering forums in Taiwan to share insights and best practices, so as to propel common growth.
With regard to social participation, CTCI plays an active role in corporate citizenship. Efforts in sustainability education and talent cultivation include establishing an exclusive learning platform for CTCI colleagues, CTCI University; free engineering course platform for the general public, CTCI Learning; as well as the CTCI Education Foundation. In particular, CTCI EF became the 11th admitted observer NGO in Taiwan by The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) in 2022, enabling the international society to see Taiwan's endeavors in sustainability.
The top recognitions that CTCI has received from institutions in Taiwan and abroad for its ESG performances include: Being selected as the Top 10 Domestic Companies Sustainability Model Award of Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) for 6 consecutive years; ranked among top 5% of the Corporate Governance Evaluation by the Financial Supervisory Commission for seven times; exemplary records in ESG assessments by MSCI ESG assessment, and CDP assessment, listed by TWSI (Taiwan Sustainability Index) as a component; received sustainability-related awards given by important Taiwanese media, such as CommonWealth Magazine and Global Views Monthly; clinches Taiwan Circular Economy Hero Award; and recognized with the "Diversity for Better Tomorrow Awards" for performance in diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI).
