Guardian of Sustainable Earth: CTCI Keeps Top 1% Status in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook Ranking

TAIPEI, February 15, 2024- CTCI Corp., the leading engineering, procurement, and construction firm in Taiwan and among the world’s top 100 services provider, announced today that it is honored to remain the top 1% performer in S&P Global’s Sustainability Yearbook annual ranking for the construction and engineering category in year 2024. As the only construction and engineering company with such ranking performance, CTCI received a score of 86 out of 100 in S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment, yet again the highest score among its industry peers.

The Sustainability Yearbook ranking is based on S&P Global’s Corporate Sustainability Assessment that looked at companies’ ESG performance during the previous year, and is one of the most prominent assessments on corporate sustainability. Out of the 9,400 companies across 62 industries globally that have been assessed in 2023, only 759 companies were selected for the Sustainability Yearbook.

Below are the highlights of CTCI’s performance in environmental (E), social (S), and governance (G) aspects.

Governance (G): In 2023, CTCI Group’s new contracts totaled 111.8 billion NTD. Backlog and revenue broke new record, reaching 346.9 billion and 103.5 billion NTD, respectively. With targets to reach net zero emissions at its headquarters and offices by 2030 and at all fabrication sites by 2050, CTCI is aggressively pushing for sustainability management across its supply chain through the Supplier Net Zero Alliance, as well as encouraging emissions reduction across the engineering and construction industry by holding the annual Taiwan Sustainable Engineering Symposium.

Environmental (E): Through Green Engineering projects that balance the needs of the environment and the economy, CTCI helps clients across the world save energy and reduce their carbon emissions. As an effort of its “green commitment,” CTCI’s emissions reduction target has been assessed and approved by the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi). According to the target to keep temperature rise within 1.5°C, CTCI aims to cut 45% of its emissions by 2030 and reach net zero by 2050, against its emissions baseline in 2022. By 2030, CTCI aims to reach no net loss (NLL) in terms of biodiversity protection and zero deforestation across its operation sites. By 2050, CTCI aims to reach net positive impact (NPI) across its operation sites and NLL across its value chain in terms of biodiversity protection, as well as zero deforestation across its value chain. As a supporter of sustainability-related initiatives, CTCI is one of the early adopters of the Taskforce on Nature-related Financial Disclosures (TNFD).

Social (S): CTCI has long been committed to social care and sustainability education. Externally, CTCI exerts its social influence through the CTCI Education Foundation, whose work encompasses sustainability education, social care, helping charity organizations, encouraging green consumption, arranging volunteer programs, supporting the local community, and paying attention to ecological issues. Internally, CTCI is committed to a workplace that adheres to the diversity, equity, and inclusion principles. The diverse cultural events and the company benefits policy ensure all employees can work and grow hassle-free.

Notably, the CTCI Education Foundation was admitted to the UNFCCC process as an observer organization in 2022. As the 11th non-governmental organization in Taiwan to be admitted, it has joined the UN climate change conference (COP28) in 2023, which took place in Dubai, to share with the world what CTCI and Taiwan has done to make the world more sustainable.

As a company that adheres to the “Most Reliable” brand spirit and is determined to act as a “Guardian of Sustainable Earth”— which is its own ESG vision— CTCI will strive to bring a better tomorrow for the globe.
