As we usher in a brand new year 2021, we continue to stay close to global market trends and draw up future development strategies through a series of innovations.

The “Outlook” column of this issue touches on the topic of “Reaching Sustainable Growth through Innovation.” You will find some insights from our Group Chairman John T. Yu on how we, bolstered by the bright business records in 2020, not only continue to run our core businesses aggressively, but also decide to explore new opportunities we have spotted from new market trends, such as “energy transition” and “advanced technology facilities engineering.” The Chairman also sheds some light on our three major innovations: "innovation in technologies," "innovation in business model," and "innovation in management," which are the keys to our sustainable growth.

In the “Discover Reliable” column, you will be reading about a parking construction project at Pingtung Shengli Park, due to be completed by the end of this year. Featuring an inclusive park that allows easy access for people of all ages, and is the first intelligent underground parking lot that meets Taiwan’s "Silver-Class Intelligent Buildings" criteria, this project helps boost urban sustainable development by utilizing smart technologies to save energy and cut carbon emissions.

This issue’s “Sustainable Future” column shares with you how we keep improving the effectiveness of HSE management to create a safe work environment through a series of safety reflection activities, namely "visible leadership," "health, safety, and environmental (HSE) capabilities training," "reward scheme," and "project site HSE scorecard." In so doing, we are staying true to our "safety first" mantra.

As our businesses span across the world, we have accumulated a wealth of track records in hydrocarbon projects in the Middle East. In “CTCI Family,” Neal from the Electrical Engineering Department shares his experience working as a field engineer in the LPIC EPC1-870 KTA Steam Cracker Project in Oman, which touches on his growth from work, foreign friendship, cultural difference, and interesting travel experience to Muscat. Don’t miss out!
