Happiness at Work, Kindness in Action, Sustainability in Mind
Employees are valuable assets of the CTCI Group and a key driver of success in international engineering services. A family-friendly workplace goes beyond benefits; it reflects an organization’s commitment to caring for its people and the lives they value. As noted in the December 2023 issue of Parenting Common Wealth Magazine, a supportive workplace recognizes employees’ needs while extending care to their families. At CTCI, employees remain at the heart of sustainable growth. Beyond supporting professional development, CTCI continues to strengthen care for employees and their families—including parents and children—by fostering a workplace culture grounded in care, inclusion, and connection. By understanding the diverse needs of employees at different life stages, CTCI strives to create an environment where careers can progress with confidence alongside a healthy work–life balance. From onboarding and probation to health protection, injury and hospitalization support, overseas assignments, marriage, childbirth, family care, and retirement, CTCI provides comprehensive benefits across every stage of an employee’s journey. To help colleagues access information more easily in an era of information overload, the HR Department has compiled these resources into a guide titled “On the Way of Your Life Journey… CTCI Is Always by Your Side”, as illustrated below, enabling clearer understanding of available benefits and ensuring no essential rights are overlooked.
「On the way of your life journey…CTCI is always by your side」
For the care and support of staff, families, parents, and children, we have the following approaches:
1. CTCI care about your physical and mental health
■ Health Center
⦁ Comprehensive Health Management To create a higher-quality and healthier workplace environment, the company has established a "Health Center" in the headquarters building. CTCI hires full-time nurses both at the headquarters and on construction sites. The Health Center is designed for comprehensive health management, covering health examination, health promotion and health risk management. Through the dynamic process of integrating and continuously improving these three aspects, the goal is to create a safe, healthy, and efficient working environment for employees. By organically combining these three aspects, not only can employees' health be improved, but the company's competitiveness can also be enhanced, achieving a win-win situation for both labor and management. ⦁ The health service for employees Arrange for occupational doctors to provide on-site consultation services at headquarters and construction sites, offering self-care consultation for illnesses, medication safety consultation, health check-up report consultation, follow-up and health guidance on abnormal health check-up data, self-care guidance for diseases, occupational disease assessment and health guidance, work suitability assessment, and support for health promotion activities (such as smoking cessation, weight loss, healthy exercise, etc.), aiming to establish a safe workplace and safeguard employees' health. ⦁ On-site physical therapist services CTCI employees primarily work on computers, and their musculoskeletal-related hazards include muscle and skeletal soreness are caused by prolonged pressure and discomfort such as eye strain from excessive visual use. Therefore, a physical therapist will be stationed on-site once a month to provide services such as rehabilitation needs assessments and the development of rehabilitation plans, in order to offer employees more comprehensive and appropriate medical resources and health care. ⦁ Hiring visually impaired massage therapists To create a high-quality and healthy workplace environment, the visually impaired massage service, which was temporarily suspended due to the pandemic, has been resumed as the situation improves. Starting from December 2023, visually impaired massage therapists have been re-employed to provide massage services at the Group's first and second headquarters buildings, as well as at various project sites across northern, central, and southern Taiwan. Employees can book service time slots online according to their needs. This service aims to relieve stress and fatigue for employees working hard, helps them relax both physically and mentally and improve work efficiency.
2. Your childcare needs are CTCI’s responsibility
■ Maternity Protection – Prenatal and Postnatal Health Assessment and Maternal Health Lectures
The Health Center focuses on maternal protection, mainly centered on health management and a friendly workplace, providing planning and arrangements for pre- and postnatal care. For female employees who are preparing for pregnancy, pregnant, or within one year postpartum, occupational medicine physicians conduct prenatal health risk assessments. Employees who complete maternal health protection consultations with a physician will receive a thoughtful gift prepared by the company. Necessary health consultations are provided at any time during pregnancy. Postpartum health assessments and consultations are offered within one year after returning from maternity leave, helping employees recover and adapt to their physical and mental condition after childbirth as soon as possible. Female employees returning to work after childbirth who need to breastfeed or express milk are provided with a compliant and comfortable lactation room by the company. To ensure that mothers can pump milk safely and with peace of mind, the lactation room is equipped with a fingerprint identification system. Inside, there is a refrigerator dedicated to breast milk, a sink, an emergency alarm, sofa seats that maintain personal privacy, fire-resistant curtains, and educational posters related to breastfeeding. The lactation room established in the CTCI first headquarters building received an excellent lactation room certification starting from 2019 and has continued to be recognized to this day.
■ Relevant leave types take precedence over regulations
CTCI's leave follow the relevant regulations of the Labor Standards Act. In recent years, it has also been planning adjustments that are better than the law. Regarding maternity leave, prenatal check-ups, and paternity leave, two adjustments have been made. ⦁ In order to allow new mothers to get sufficient rest after childbirth and to enjoy more precious moments with their newborns, the original 8-week maternity leave stipulated by the Labor Standards Act has been extended to 10 weeks. ⦁ In order to allow fathers to attentively accompany their partners to each prenatal check-up and to have ample time to be with their wives during the childbirth process, the original 7 days of paternity leave for prenatal check-ups and childbirth specified in the Labor Standards Act has been extended to 10 days.
■ Expanding Maternity Incentives to Support Employee Families
For employees or their spouses giving birth, CTCI Group Joint Employee Welfare Committee provides childbirth subsidies. If group insurance includes additional childbirth allowance, employees or their spouses can also apply for childbirth allowance. To further improve childbirth-related measures, the company will increase a childbirth gift for employees starting from September 1, 2024. In addition, to promote the birth rate, the company will adjust the childbirth gift again starting from July 1, 2025, providing different amounts of the gift based on the newborn's birth order.
3. Bringing Care and Happiness into Every Stage of Life
■ Employee Assistance Program (EAP)
CTCI is actively establishing a high-quality and healthy working environment, promoting workplace health measures. In terms of employee psychological care, it provides employee assistance, handles employee feedback (such as proposals for improvement, employee complaints, unlawful infringements, sexual harassment, and whistleblowing), manages labor disputes, assesses labor condition risks (such as overtime risk assessment), and collaborates with external organizations to implement Employee Assistance Programs (EAPs) to help resolve psychological distress. Additionally, there are mental wellness courses and a mental health platform offering EAP education and information. Professional counseling psychologists provide psychological counseling services, and the service targets also extend to first-degree relatives of group employees. Both telephone counseling and online services are unlimited in frequency and free of charge, while face-to-face counseling has a usage limit of four sessions. Online counseling is used first, after which the counselor evaluates whether to schedule further face-to-face consultations or referrals.
■ Health Checkup
The health of our employees is what we care about the most. In the workplace, people often neglect their health due to busy work. Employees can detect diseases early and receive treatment through regular health check-ups. The company provides employees with annual health check-up expenses, which can be accumulated over three years for more detailed examinations. For 2023, the group referred to the health tracking status of employees over the years and the characteristics of the group's industry. In response to the domestic super-aging trend, a plan was developed to increase health check-up expenses according to age groups, significantly adjusting the amount of health check-up subsidies and differentiating them by age, effective from 2024. Starting from July 1, 2025, the subsidy amounts for ages 60 (inclusive) to 65 will be further increased, allowing group employees to receive more ample health check-up subsidies and to have a variety of health check-up options to choose from. The Health Center negotiates with designated hospitals and programs for employees each year. The target recipients of these health check-up programs include not only the employees themselves but also their dependents, who can enjoy these designated health check-up programs. Starting in 2025, retired employees of the group can also enjoy these designated health check-up programs.
■ A New CTCI Well-Being Care Leave Initiative to Support Work-Life Balance
Considering the care needs arising from the trends of declining birth rates and an aging population, and to enhance the 'happiness' of the group’s employees, in addition to the family care leave regulated by the original Gender Equality in Employment Act, “CTCI Well-Being Care Leave” has been added, providing 7 days of half-pay leave per year (not counted as personal leave), with an additional 3 days for each child under 6 years old. The care recipients include the employee themselves, their children, spouse, parents, grandparents.
"Caring about employees’ needs and taking care of their families," CTCI strive to create a DEI environment that is Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and genuinely fulfilling, allowing employees to work without worries and freely, confidently, and wholeheartedly utilize their strengths, co-creating a sustainable and happy workplace.
