Circular Economy Conference Advances Cross-Sector Prosperity, Shaping New Sustainability Blueprints for the Electronics and Construction Industry
Co-organized by the CTCI Education Foundation (CTCIEF), the Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), and National Taiwan University, the 2025 9th International Conference on Sustainable Future through Circular Economy spotlighted the latest research achievements and technological advances in the circular economy. Bringing together leading scholars, industry representatives, and policy decision-makers from Taiwan and abroad, the conference explored how circular economy strategies can drive global sustainable development while delivering practical pathways for the transformation of high-tech industries and core infrastructure.
3 Strategic Focus Areas: From Supply Chains to Smart Buildings
The conference centered on three major themes, demonstrating how innovation can accelerate circular economy adoption across sectors: .Electronics Industry Forum: Discussions focused on key priorities including e-waste recovery and management, product durability, and circular supply chain strategies. In response to growing resource constraints, industry leaders highlighted the need to minimize waste at the design stage and build resilient, closed-loop systems. .Construction Industry Forum: Sessions examined sustainable materials, design for disassembly, and circular smart building models. Speakers emphasized how buildings can evolve into regenerative resource banks, with digital management systems improving material traceability and reuse rates. .Innovation and Challenges Forum: Topics ranged from new business models and circular technologies to green finance and investment strategies. The sessions showcased cross-disciplinary implementation results while examining how financial mechanisms can accelerate industrial decarbonization and green transition. The conference was held in a hybrid format, combining in-person and virtual participation to broaden international access and deepen knowledge exchange. Through expert keynote presentations, case studies, and interactive discussions, participants from diverse professional backgrounds engaged in meaningful dialogue on cross-sector challenges and opportunities, building consensus while inspiring new ideas for a more circular and sustainable future.
Roundtable Forum: Policy Implementation and Future Strategies
A high-level roundtable forum was specially convened on the second day of the conference, bringing together representatives from government, industry, and research institutions to engage in in-depth discussions on advancing circular economy policies and actionable measures. The dialogue centered on the practical implementation of circular economy initiatives and net zero carbon policies. Participants jointly developed strategic recommendations for government, industry, and academia, which were consolidated into an advisory report aimed at supporting the continued advancement of circular economy policy in Taiwan and beyond, while helping shape a greener future.
Strengthening Global Collaboration and International Visibility
This year's conference delivered substantial outcomes. Through the participation of delegates and professionals from multiple countries, the event successfully fostered global knowledge exchange and collaborative dialogue across the circular economy sector. The conference not only deepened understanding of key sustainability issues, but also raised Taiwan’s profile in the global sustainability community. It brought together industry, government, and academia, strengthening cross-sector collaboration and showcasing the innovative applications and potential of the circular economy across diverse fields.
