CTCI, recognized as "Taiwan's No. 1, and one of the Top 100 in the Globe" in turnkey engineering, has long been committed to promoting sustainability through its core business in response to international sustainable development trends. To deepen employees' understanding of ESG issues, in 2024, the CTCI Group Sustainability and Net Zero Office, in collaboration with the CTCI Education Foundation, organized the CTCI Group ESG Awards. The awards focused on dual themes: "CTCI Group Climate Action" and "CTCI Group Social Impact." Through this initiative, all employees are encouraged to consider how they can contribute to the planet's sustainability in their daily work and actively implement sustainable actions—reinforcing CTCI’s vision to become a true "Guardian of Sustainable Earth."

2024 Submission Results and Case Highlights

With enthusiastic submissions from colleagues both domestically and abroad, a special selection committee of experts and scholars was convened in 2024. After final deliberations, 12 award-winning works were selected. A total of 24 entries were shortlisted for the Climate Action category, and 18 entries for the Social Impact category. There were 21 entries from departments/project teams and 21 individual entries. A total prize pool of NT$286,000 was awarded, and the award ceremony was held in November 2024, with 44 participants (in-person and online) joining the event. The following are two award-winning cases we would like to highlight.

Engineer Kaius Cheng from CTCI's Civil Engineering Design Department won first place in the Climate Action Individual Awards with his "EPC Industrial Landscape Biodiversity Planning Overview." The project recognizes the impact of site development on the ecological environment and therefore emphasizes the need for a comprehensive assessment to propose professional solutions. This approach aims to maintain ecological and biological diversity as much as possible while ensuring the stability and manageability of the owner's plant operations.

In the Social Impact Award category, the HR Team from CTCI Advanced Systems won the Gold Award with the theme "Auto Power Driving ERG (employee resource group), Accelerating DEI (diversity, equity, and inclusion)." The project explains how to build workplace inclusivity starting with internal employees, through initiatives such as diverse focus group workshops and inclusive leadership workshops, and implementing measures like providing feedback to ERG stakeholders and expressing gratitude.

Looking Ahead to 2025:Expanding Sustainable Impact

From the above award-winning projects, it is evident that both teams and individuals, through practical exercises and consideration of various aspects of ESG, have successfully sparked reflection and advancement on many sustainability issues, thereby nurturing opportunities for future change. Based on the successful experience of 2024, to further deepen the culture of sustainability, CTCI will launch the "CTCI Group ESG Awards 2025" selection program this May. This program aims to continuously discover and recognize the outstanding contributions and innovative thinking of our colleagues in sustainable practices. By sharing successful cases and experiences, we hope to inspire more colleagues to engage in sustainable development, demonstrating CTCI's commitment to promoting sustainability from within and ensuring that the impact of sustainability continues to spread and take root within the organization.
