"2024 10th Taiwan in My Eyes 120h - Fantastic Ten"
Exploring Taiwan's Low Carbon Emissions and Heralding a New Sustainable Era

CTCI Education Foundation, in partnership with Taiwan Institute for Sustainable Energy (TAISE), successfully wrapped up the "2024 10th Taiwan in My Eyes 120h - Fantastic Ten" event. The results presentation took place on March 9 at CTCI Group's Second Headquarters. A total of 11 teams, comprising 44 students from 11 universities spanning 22 countries, competed enthusiastically for the prestigious "CTCI Exchange Scholarships." This year's total prize money amounted to a substantial NT$766,000. Through subsidized travel expenses, each participating team showcased lively and dynamic result videos, demonstrating their deep insights gained from 120 hours of exploring Taiwan through presentations in Chinese, English, and their native languages.

Planting the Seeds of Sustainability: Nurturing Future Ambassadors of Sustainability

The “Taiwan in My Eyes 120h” event, now in its tenth edition, involved exchange students from 71 countries and 42 institutions, totaling 608 students to date who have received scholarships. This year, participating students came from 12 Asian countries, 5 American countries, 2 European countries, and 3 African countries. To foster deeper exchanges with schools, we invited teachers recommended by each team to attend the results presentation for the first time. Through panel discussions, we fostered academic exchanges with educators dedicated to international student welfare, further promoting this event.

Eugene Chien, Ambassador-at-large of the Republic of China and Chairman of CTCI Education Foundation, highlighted in his address the event's role in enabling international students to explore Taiwan together, gaining profound insights into the country's diverse facets and sustainability practices. He encouraged students to share their experiences and observations upon returning to their home countries, promoting a broader understanding of Taiwan's cultural and sustainability values. Furthermore, this initiative aims to sow the seeds of sustainability within campuses and cultivate future champions of sustainability!

Showcasing Taiwan's Sustainability Achievements Through Company Visits

The Taiwan in My Eyes event brought together undergraduates and postgraduates from each university. Each team comprised one Taiwanese student and three international students from the same institution, totaling 11 teams and 44 participants who completed the exploration journey. During the on-site exploration and results presentation phase, participants visited five selected enterprises and institutions, with the flexibility of planning part of their schedule to learn the sustainable practices across various industries through interviews or immersive experiences. The teams then created short videos showcasing their findings, which were competitively evaluated through public polls on social media to amplify Taiwan's corporate sustainability achievements.

The featured five enterprises and institutions in this edition included: CTCI Corporation, Miaoli County Green Dream Plant (Miaoli EfW plant, operated by ECOVE, a subsidiary of CTCI Group), Taiwan Cement DAKA Park, Taroko National Park, and Hualien District Agricultural Research and Extension Station. These five enterprises in diverse sectors exemplified Taiwanese enterprises' commitment to sustainability, with highlights ranging from smart green buildings, incinerators promoting ecological restoration through community collaboration, the natural splendor of Taroko Gorge, to the agricultural circular economy with organic fertilizers. These initiatives underscore Taiwan's dedication to biodiversity and environmental education, while fostering international cultural exchange through interactions between participants from around the world during the visits.
