Covering 7 Major Engineering Disciplines, "CTCI Learning" Website Opened to the Public for Free to Foster Engineering Talents

Employees are an important asset to CTCI and are the key to CTCI´s achievements and glory for more than 40 years. As a measure to help colleagues to keep growing in line with the group´s global business development, a learning platform “CTCI University” was formally established in 2020. Through its comprehensive and professional career training arrangement, “CTCI University” is useful to cultivate talents with international outlook, ready to combat, and are equipped with the skill sets required by today’s world. 

Recently, with the goal to cultivate engineering talents for our nation, we selected hundreds of courses from “CTCI University” and established “CTCI Learning” website, which is now opened to the public for free. Hopefully, by sharing professional knowledge and valuable experience with the public, we would create higher value from these courses.

Cultivating Talents at CTCI University

Since its establishment in 2020, CTCI University has been adhering to the principles of "passing on experiences" and "fostering sustainable growth." In addition to appointing the former president of National Taiwan Normal University, Professor Kuo-An Chang, as the first President of CTCI University, we also assign the role of Chief Academic Officer to be responsible for planning and execution for the overall training program. Besides, the highest decision-making unit—“Training and Development Committee” was established, which is chaired by CTCI Group Chairman while the deans of colleges and department chairs are served by the group’s top managers of various business units. and the President of CTCI University. It also includes a “Curriculum Review Committee,” which is organized under CTCI University; the dean of each college are the members to review the overall learning effectiveness of each college, approve the curriculum of each department, add and delete interdisciplinary courses, and integrate teaching materials of the group to maximize the training effectiveness of CTCI’s training resources.

In terms of organizational structure, there are six colleges in CTCI University, namely , the College of QHSE, the College of Engineering and Design, the College of Project
 

Systematic Training, Learning without Boundaries

CTCI University adopts “Mastering Learning” method as the basis of e-learning course. Each course is designed and divided into 15-minute units to make learning more effective. Through unit-by-unit learning, followed by unit quizzes, and repeating practice, students can acquire and master the desired knowledge. Thanks to the flexibility offered by online learning, colleagues could take a course wherever and whenever they like, get connected to the platform through their computers or mobile devices, watch as many times as they want, and can always go back and refresh what they have learned. The purposes is to achieve all employee training, synchronized learning, and then build the strength of all employees.	

CTCI University has different training plans for colleagues at different stages: for new recruits, they will receive a set of exclusive training courses designed for new recruits once they are on board with a complete training plan offered. The Mentor & Mentee program, on the other hand, provides guidance from supervisors and an assigned Mentor, allowing new recruits to familiarize themselves with their job responsibilities step by step.

For the selected talents and colleagues who are preparing to be dispatched abroad, no matter where they are going to be relocated and what job ranks they belong to, we also have exclusive program which enables them to get quickly prepared for the new assignment and align themselves with site operations, reducing the occurrence of errors and project schedule delays. In addition, for the cultivation of senior management and their successors, CTCI University provides annual management training. The management courses are designed according to competency requirement for each tier of management. So that senior managers can inherit experience from their predecessors and reach sustainable growth through comprehensive training courses and self-learning.

Fostering Employee Career Development with Company-wide IDP and Course Selection System

In order to enhance the professional capabilities of our colleagues, combined with career planning, CTCI University provides a more integrated, convenient, and systematic training blueprint. We have set up a course selection system that allows colleagues to choose "professional courses for current positions” and “professional courses for career development” during the annual course selection period. Later on, their supervisors will add or remove courses selected by tailoring the learning blueprint for each colleague and strengthening their competency. In addition, we also launched a company-wide IDP (Individual Development Plan) program, for which each colleague would discuss with the supervisor to jointly organize a set of personal development plan, and to focus on their personal learning and development. In so doing, we create a diversified training and development path that incorporates organizational goals, work directions, and personal development goals by taking into account the career development of colleagues, while also improving the organization´s overall performance.

Learning Effectiveness Review, Competency Assessment and Learning Dashboard

After a comprehensive training planning and course arrangement, CTCI University also pays particular attention to the evaluation of the learning effectiveness. Through the implementation of annual competency assessment, it allows department heads to examine the working behavior of colleagues after completing  training and whether they can utilize the professional knowledge to their work. Through competency assessment, supervisors can examine the competency gaps of colleagues. Colleagues may also understand their ability level. Further training will be arranged to bridge the gap, so that colleagues would be able to keep learning and developing.

At the same time, CTCI University has developed a learning dashboard system to enhance effectiveness and track the learning progress of each colleague so that supervisors can timely monitor colleagues´ learning status. In this dashboard, colleagues´ learning history is also itemized for a better understanding of colleagues´ career training planning development. Additionally, the dash board provides summarized learning record review for each CTCI company, business operation unit, division, department, and individual. Through the analysis of the learning dashboard, it allows trainings to be conducted more systematically and easy to evaluate, while improving the overall training effectiveness.

Courses at CTCI Learning Website are Opened to the Public to Fulfill Corporate Social Responsibilities

To improve Taiwan´s engineering strength, CTCI University has launched a learning website, "CTCI Learning," which offers professional courses in the engineering discipline to the public without charging any fees. This brand-new learning platform allows everyone— from students, industry professionals, to the general public— to take courses based on their own fields and interests. “CTCI Learning” website currently offers hundreds of open courses under seven engineering disciplines, chemical engineering, civil engineering, chemical equipment engineering, instrumentation and control system engineering, piping engineering, electrical engineering, and information and communication engineering. The purpose is to enhance the competitiveness of engineering talents in Taiwan, the quality of social education, and bring greater values with our expertise.
