Kuo-Ann Wu, CEO of Group Intelligent Solutions Business
With the advancement of the global digital transformation wave and the increasing emphasis on sustainable development worldwide, AI and ESG business opportunities have flourished in recent years. Industries are currently experiencing an era full of challenges and opportunities. Under the concerted efforts of CTCI’s three major business groups—Engineering, Resource Cycling, and Intelligent Solutions—the Group has continuously leveraged smart turnkey engineering and green engineering to stay ahead of trends and achieve outstanding performance over the years. This article will share how CTCI’s Group Intelligent Solutions Business (GISB) motivates its subsidiaries—CTCI Advanced Systems Inc., CTCI Resource Engineering Inc., and CTCI Smart Engineering Corp.—to leverage their strengths. By integrating the Group’s experience and achievements in engineering and smart technology, it expands into diverse markets and leads industry-wide intelligent upgrades, striving to become a global leader in smart engineering.
Deepening Core Business and Expanding Diverse Market Presence
In response to the rapidly changing market environment, the GISB has continuously deepened its presence in core business areas and actively expanded opportunities in emerging markets, thereby achieving significant results in business development as outlined below. In the fields of smart buildings and smart parks, we are committed to integrating green building sustainability concepts with advanced smart technologies. We implement energy-saving management, smart maintenance and operations, and security protection systems, while enhancing their operational efficiency and functionality to help clients create green, energy-efficient factories, commercial offices, and residences. Amid strong market demand for high-quality smart green buildings, our backlog in this field has continued to grow in recent years. A prime example is the ongoing turnkey project for the "Jin Cheng Housing" social housing project in East District, Hsinchu City, comprising nearly 1,000 units, which integrates green building and smart energy management systems. In the fields of high-tech and biotechnology facility construction, we have a deep understanding of the stringent environmental standards required by the high-tech industry, as well as the GMP (Good Manufacturing Practice) engineering validation needs of biotech pharmaceutical plants. Leveraging extensive experience in cleanroom and water vaporization system construction, as well as a solid grasp of process characteristics, GISB has successfully assisted numerous leading domestic and international clients in completing plant construction and expansion projects. At the same time, it actively collaborates with the Group’s parent company, CTCI Corporation, combining the rapidly accumulated expertise and experience in the high-tech sector in recent years to jointly develop opportunities in the high-tech and biotechnology industries. These include new plant construction for wafer fabs, data centers, and biopharmaceutical factories, as well as expansion and renovation projects for existing facilities. Recent related achievements include the newly completed two foreign-invested data centers and the newly awarded construction project of the Internet Data Center (IDC) facility for Chunghwa Telecom. In the field of system integration, leveraging experiences accumulated in communication and signaling systems for rail transit, safety instrumented systems (SIS) for petrochemical plants and LNG receiving terminals, facilities management control systems (FMCS), and building automation systems (BAS) for commercial office buildings, CTCI successfully secured the turnkey contract for the upgrade of the Process Safety Instrumented System (SIS) at the Taichung LNG Receiving Terminal. This achievement not only affirms our professional capabilities but also contributes to enhancing the stability and safety of Taiwan’s energy supply, supporting the advancement of energy transition. Furthermore, GISB actively responds to the global net-zero emissions trend by vigorously developing green engineering and technical services. In addition to participating in the Group’s recent major investments in key energy transition infrastructure such as combined cycle power plants, LNG receiving terminals, energy resource centers, and solar photovoltaic plants, we also closely monitor the planning of nuclear decommissioning and the development of emerging nuclear technologies such as small modular reactors (SMRs). At the same time, we continue to promote the application of green technologies such as precast construction methods in various projects, including the CPC P8 pipe rack, TPE05 main structure, and the aforementioned Hsinchu social housing project. The use of precast construction methods can reduce environmental impact, improve construction efficiency and quality, help address labor shortages, enhance construction quality, and shorten the project duration. Subsequently, we will expand our own large-scale precast plant with the goal of becoming a leading precast specialist manufacturer. Additionally, in response to changes in social structure, we are actively expanding into construction development and senior care services. We plan to invest in the construction and operation of long-term care facilities and participate in urban renewal, aging building reconstruction, and construction development projects. We aim to contribute to social development through our engineering expertise, with preliminary results expected within one year.
Strengthening Technological Innovation to Lead the Smart Upgrade of the Industry
The advanced application of artificial intelligence (AI) has been one of CTCI Group’s key development focuses in recent years. GISB is dedicated to researching and implementing the most advanced technologies to provide customers with more efficient, smarter solutions. Under the strategic directive to establish an "AI Service Center" within CTCI Group, GISB has been fully committed to advancing the AI integration of various services. Not only have we expanded existing discriminative AI application modules, such as those in smart analytics, smart imaging, and smart control, but we have also actively developed generative AI application modules, including smart service assistants, engineering expert systems, and process automation solutions. The AI solutions we provide, including Mr. PSS (Process Simulation), Mr. APC (Advanced Process Control), Mr. O&M (Digital Operations & Management), Mr. Digital (Digital Twin technology), Mr. OPX (Smart Maintenance and Process Optimization Platform), and Mr. Energy (Energy Management System), have been successfully implemented across multiple sectors such as manufacturing, petrochemicals, water resource management, commercial offices, and industrial parks. These solutions assist clients in achieving energy savings, carbon reduction, and improved operational efficiency. In the future, CTCI GISB will uphold the brand spirit of being "the most reliable," leveraging its expertise and experience in the field of intelligent engineering. By embracing the trends of AI and ESG, it will drive sustainability through smart solutions, creating greater value for its clients. Through continuous innovation and R&D, it will stay at the forefront of the latest trends and waves, striving to become a pioneer in leading the industry's intelligent transformation.
