Taiwan Northern Taiwan’s First Water Reclamation Plant Contracted by CTCI Officially Breaks Ground

TAIPEI, November 7, 2022- Taiwan’s leading engineering, procurement, and construction group CTCI announced today that the Reclaimed Water Build-Transfer-Operate (BTO) Project of North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan, contacted jointly by CTCI and Radium Life Tech, officially breaks ground.

The CTCI- Radium alliance set up a concession company called Bao Ding Reclaimed Water Co., Ltd. to be in charge of investment, construction, and operation for northern Taiwan’s first water reclamation plant. Slated to begin operations in 2025, the plant’s capacity will reach 40,000 tons per day, able to supply reclaimed water to Guanyin Industrial Park and CPC Refinery Plant in Taoyuan.
The scope of work includes building a new water reclamation plant on existing municipal wastewater treatment plant. In addition, a 30 km-long external water pipeline system will be built. The concession will last for 18 years, including 3 years of construction and 15 years of operation.
CTCI Corporation Chairman Michael Yang points out that “As a consequence of climate change, water scarcity becomes an issue which makes great impact on a global scale, and hence the trend to speed up development in water resource recycling and reuse. CTCI has over four decades of expertise in wastewater plant engineering, specializing in recycling and reusing municipal sewage and industrial wastewater. It pioneers the EPC industry in Taiwan to take on new challenges, and has achieved multiple milestones in wastewater plant engineering. The North District Water Resources Recycling Center in Taoyuan can be expanded in the future to produce 112,000 tons reclaimed water per day to meet reclaimed water demand, the largest in terms of water supply among all water reclamation plants in Taiwan.”
In recent years, CTCI made numerous records in wastewater plant engineering, including the completion of Kaohsiung Fengshan River Wastewater Reclamation Unit BTO project, and Linhai Wastewater Reclamation Unit BTO project. The former being the first municipal wastewater reclamation plant in Taiwan, while the latter accomplished building municipal wastewater treatment and water reclamation plant in one step, providing better water quality than tap water, and significantly reducing cost for water pretreatment.
Another landmark project is TSMC Southern Taiwan Science Park Water Reclamation Plant, which is the industry’s first reclaimed water plant to successfully regenerate industrial wastewater and reuse it in the semiconductor process, setting a precedent in the recycling of water resources.
CTCI envisions to be “The Guardian of Sustainable Earth” and has expanded its services in wastewater treatment to various quarters, including industrial, municipal, and wastewater reclamation for the electronics industry. The Group is committed to delivering the most reliable engineering services globally, and has been the top pick among clients worldwide in business collaboration. CTCI will continue to serve in the interest of global construction, economies, and environmental protection with expertise in green engineering.
