The wave of emerging trends continues to rise, with advancements in AI smart technology and ESG-driven net-zero initiatives reshaping industries and presenting significant challenges. The engineering industry is no exception. As Taiwan’s leading EPC engineering group and one of the global top 100, CTCI recognizes that seizing trends and harnessing technology are crucial to transforming challenges into opportunities for growth and innovation. Reflecting on 2024, with the collective effort of 8,000 employees worldwide, CTCI achieved outstanding business performance. Consolidated sales revenue reached a record-breaking NTD 119.7 billion, while new contracts totaled NTD 125.6 billion, and the construction backlog reached an all-time high of NTD 333.4 billion. Meanwhile, CTCI continues to hold a strong position, ranked 59th in the "Global Contractor" category, maintaining its competitive edge in the global engineering market. Looking ahead to 2025, CTCI will focus on three key strategies: Business Aspiration, Enhanced Management, and Innovative Breakthroughs, to stay ahead of ever-changing trends. The goal is to earn the trust of global clients and drive sustainable management forward.
Strategic Business Aspiration Reflecting Industry Momentum
On business expansion, CTCI strives to clinching the global industry trend and continue to achieve great results, achieving outstanding performances in multiple sectors as follows: • Hydrocarbon and petrochemical: Constructions underway include the SABIC Fujian Petrochemical HDPE Bi-Modal Complex, a world-class green and sustainable petrochemical facility; the EPC contract for Ethylene Storage Facilities by Ras Laffan Petrochemicals (RLP), the largest ethylene complex in the world; and Saudi Aramco's Liquid-to-Chemical (LTC) strategic project. Recent completions, such as the Zhangzhou CHIMEI PC EPC Project and Ascends integrated hexamethylene diamine (HMD) and specialty chemicals plant, highlight CTCI's success in competitive regions like the Middle East and Mainland China. Moving forward, CTCI remains committed to advancing green technologies and seizing opportunities in the industry's green transformation. • Circular Economy: Projects under construction include Taiwan's largest Chiayi Green Energy Sustainable Circulation Center BOT Project, a cutting-edge energy-from-waste facility. Additionally, the first phase of the Chungli Water Resource Recycling Center BOT Project has been successfully completed. Moving forward, CTCI will continue to expand its footprint across various fields of the circular economy, striving to advance ESG initiatives and contribute to achieving net-zero sustainability. • Intelligent Buildings and Parks: The ongoing Jincheng Anju Social Housing EPC Project, utilizing pioneering precast techniques, has been designated as a demonstration unit for precast construction methods. Meanwhile, the ancillary facilities for the Taipei Dome Park, Taiwan's largest indoor sports complex, have been completed. Looking ahead, efforts will focus on smart buildings, biotech and smart parks, and social housing projects. Plans also include adopting a land acquisition and self-construction model while pursuing opportunities such as government BOT projects for senior housing. • Transportation: The construction of Taipei Metro’s WanDa Line Jincheng Depot has reached the milestone of formal power supply and the arrival od the first train, while the Taoyuan Metro Green Line GC03 MEP Project and Taipei Metro's Circular Line North & South Section has been completed. Currently, CTCI is involved in most of the domestic metro construction and operations, continuously making tangible contributions to green transportation. • Advanced Technology: The “Micron F11 CUB6 & CUB7 Expansion Project” has been recognized with the Construction Golden Safety Award. Other current projects include the “BASF Electronic Grade Sulfuric Acid Project” in Zhejiang Jiaxing, as well as factory construction for Taiwanese businesses in India, Vietnam, Malaysia, and other regions. Looking ahead, CTCI aims to build a strong track record in areas such as data centers, energy storage, and DRAM factories, further strengthening its expertise in high-tech factory construction. • Carbon Capture: CTCI is Taiwan's first turnkey engineering company with proven expertise in both upstream and downstream carbon capture and storage projects. It successfully executed Taiwan’s first “Carbon Storage Pilot Program” and “Carbon Capture Project” for a major wafer manufacturer, effectively seizing the opportunity.
Implementation of AI for an Innovative Task Force
With a focus on smart innovation, CTCI has reorganized its structure to form an innovative Research & Development(R&D) task force, actively incorporating new technologies to optimize project execution and logistics management. The company is dedicated to gaining a competitive edge through its Unique Selling Points (USP), setting itself apart from competitors. • Optimizing the Organization to Maximize Synergy To accelerate innovative engineering technologies, CTCI has completed the restructuring of its research and development organization. The Group Research & Innovation Center has been established, overseeing two major departments: Intelligent Innovation and System Maintenance. The former leads the development and application of AI and digital technologies, while the latter is responsible for maintaining the core systems needed for operations and projects. This structure aims to leverage organizational synergy and enhance overall R&D capabilities. • AI-driven Design and Technology-enhanced Management With the introduction of AI and RPA, the accuracy of design work is significantly improved. On the project management side, these technologies enhance procurement and construction efficiency, while refining scheduling, costs, quality, and safety management. Moving forward, CTCI will continue to advance in the direction of "AI-driven design and technology-enhanced management," ensuring that every project is executed faster, more precisely, and more efficiently. • Developing Proprietary Technologies to Create Unique Selling Points In addition to integrating advanced, mature technologies, CTCI is actively investing in the development of proprietary technologies to create Unique Selling Points (USPs). For example, when constructing physical factories, CTCI simultaneously integrates the concept of virtual and physical integration, developing the "CTCI Digital Twin" technology for virtual factories. This technology has already been applied to several domestic projects and will continue to evolve with new features and expand its use in global projects.
Enhanced Management to Elevate Group Performance
In recent years, CTCI has continuously refined its management practices in areas such as achieving net-zero carbon emissions, accelerating talent development, and improving risk control, resulting in significant improvements in group performance. • Global Leader in Sustainability CTCI is committed to becoming a "Guardian of Earth's Sustainability," with a goal to achieve "net-zero emissions at office locations by 2030 and at production and service locations by 2050." As of 2022, CTCI successfully reduced carbon emissions by 13.6% in 2023, surpassing its target by 7.6%. It is also the first engineering company in Taiwan to have its carbon reduction targets validated by SBTi. With outstanding ESG performance, CTCI has won the Taiwan Corporate Sustainability Awards (TCSA) "Top 10 Exemplary Enterprises" for eight consecutive years and was ranked first in the service industry in 2024. Additionally, CTCI has been listed in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for Emerging Markets for 10 years and has received the highest industry score among global engineering firms in the past three years, setting a benchmark for the engineering industry. • Efficient Growth through Targeted Talent Development CTCI nurtures international talent through its exclusive online education platform, “CTCI University.” It also accelerates talent development through strategies like the “Mentor & Mentee” system for knowledge transfer and the identification of high-potential (“High-Po”) and young leaders (“Young Po”). These initiatives have successfully achieved the goal of “precise talent promotion and fast-tracked advancement,” solidifying the foundation for the group’s continued growth. • Making Risk Management a Corporate Culture To strengthen risk control, CTCI has established a Group Risk Management and Control Office and appointed a Chief Risk Officer to oversee all related activities. The company has also developed Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to enhance risk management. CTCI ensures control at every stage, from carefully selecting clients during the contracting phase to monitoring market trends and executing strategies during the pricing phase, as well as regularly reviewing and addressing risks during project execution. Through these comprehensive measures, CTCI continuously raises risk awareness across the organization, implements effective risk control mechanisms, and fosters a culture of proactive risk management.
