Amid the rapid evolution of artificial intelligence (AI), various industries worldwide have invested in the research and development of AI-related technologies. The CTCI Group has anticipated the advent of Industry 4.0 and smart manufacturing, applying these advancements to its engineering service projects worldwide. This foresight is supported by the joint efforts of its three major business units: Group Engineering, Intelligent Solution Business, and Resource Cycling Business. In this article, we will take a closer look at how the Group Intelligent Solution Business (GISB) is dedicated to the field of smart engineering, leveraging the diverse advantages of its three companies: CTCI Advanced System Inc. (CTCI ASI), CTCI Resource Engineering Inc. (CTCI REI), and CTCI Smart Engineering Corporation (CTCI SEC). The GISB is actively promoting the latest AI and intelligent technology, applying it to the intelligentization of the petrochemical industry and the execution of related projects, resulting in steady revenue growth. Echoing the Group’s latest ESG vision of "Guardian of Sustainable Earth", GISB is further integrating AI with sustainable development, striving to become a provider of comprehensive and intelligent carbon reduction solutions.

Driving Business Growth through Smart Engineering

Resembling the sustainability growth of its parent Group, GISB’s performance continued to rise, delivering outstanding results in related businesses. Its achievements and future developments are outlined as follows.

Acknowledging the great business opportunity in the high-tech factory manufacturing sector, GISB is partnering with the Group Engineering Business (GEB). The partnership has successfully delivered several construction projects, including high-tech/biotechnology factories, large data centers, lithium battery plants, and energy storage facilities. Their services range from Civil/Structure/Architectural (CSA), Mechanical/Electrical/Plumbing (MEP), cleanroom constructions, and facility monitoring & control systems (FMCS).In the future, GISB will strive to perfect related techniques and work towards the goal of independently contracting the manufacturing of large-scale (over 10,000 m²) and high-level (class 1, 10, & 100) cleanrooms. They hope to secure a share in cooperation or investment opportunities within the high-tech supply chain.

Experienced in the intelligent and biotechnical sectors, GISB has delivered several landmark projects, including Taipei EXPO Park in Yuanshan and the Agricultural Technology Park in Pingtung, among others. One of the most challenging projects within these achievements is Taipei Dome Park, where GISB managed the electrical and plumbing systems for ancillary facilities such as hotels, offices, and cinemas. Upholding the "Most Reliable" brand spirit, the project team successfully overcame challenges such as design changes and work resumption after suspension, achieving project targets promptly and earning high praise from clients. In the future, GISB will continue leveraging our experience and expertise in planning, design, procurement, contracting, and turnkey construction (EPC) to seize opportunities in both public and private sector projects.

Regarding intelligent buildings, following CTCI's 2nd HQ Building achieving certifications in both intelligent and green building labels, as well as receiving the National Golden Award for Architecture, the Group is actively responding to the wave of government-built social housing projects. With a profound track record in constructing intelligent buildings, the Group successfully secured the Jincheng Anju Social Housing EPC Project. This sustainable building integrates smart engineering and green energy, with its core design concept focused on ESG principles. By applying pioneering precast techniques, this project has been selected as a demonstration unit for precast construction methods. GISB will continue to excel in this sector, seizing opportunities in urban renewal and the reconstruction of hazardous old buildings. Additionally, the Group will develop a build-to-own model and participate in the government's BOT projects for senior housing, thereby expanding the business scope of the Group.

Furthermore, the precast method mentioned earlier is a key focus area for the Group currently. This method significantly reduces the substantial labor required in traditional steel-reinforced concrete construction sites. By prefabricating basic beam and column structures in the factory and installing them directly on-site, this approach enables higher precision, shorter construction times, reduced raw material usage, improved construction quality, enhanced workplace safety, lower maintenance costs, extended building lifespans, and promotes energy conservation and carbon reduction. Currently, GISB has established a precast factory and is executing several domestic projects. Looking ahead, in addition to continually enhancing related technologies, the Group plans to construct a larger precast factory to offer more comprehensive services to our clients. Our objective is to become a leading professional precast construction company and leverage this advantage to secure more engineering projects for the Group.

Harnessing AI for Sustainable Development via Smart Technology

The System Integration (SI) service is one of GISB's many strengths. For many years, we have provided this service to various clients across multiple sectors, delivering outstanding performance. Recently, new progress has been made with the implementation of the latest AI technology, echoing the sustainability trend.

With the rapid development of AI, the Group has combined Discriminative AI with self-developed products like Mr. AI, the Intelligent Solution Platform, product information dashboards, data consolidation platforms, and proximity access control systems for construction sites. This integration has further advanced four major scenarios: "smart connection, smart operation, smart innovation, smart production", successfully assisting clients in various fields such as petrochemicals, plastics, grinding, chemicals, and airports. Customized intelligent systems have been integrated into both new and existing plants and facilities, establishing or optimizing systems such as measurement, information management, operational guidance, process simulation, energy scheduling, and baggage handling. These efforts have significantly enhanced operational efficiency for our clients.

Aiding the promotion of ESG with AI is becoming a future trend. CTCI will leverage its advantageous resource management to expand our services. Take Mr. Energy, a self-developed intelligent energy management system by CTCI, for example. Having received much praise from the industry, the system has recently introduced a new Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Inventory module. The upgraded EnMS & GHG Inventory system not only aids clients in managing energy consumption but also conducts carbon footprint verification for direct carbon emissions produced during clients’ operations. The system will continue to evolve with the integration of multiple functions, such as AI identification, allowing the verification scope to include indirect carbon emissions, such as electricity usage and emissions from upstream and downstream of the supply chain. This provides clients with a clearer picture of their carbon emissions throughout the manufacturing process, enabling further examination of their procedures. These services will become CTCI’s competitive advantage in the engineering industry, offering clients state-of-the-art, carbon-reducing facility building and upgrade services.

Gazing into the future, GISB will strive to stay ahead of the latest trends in the technology market, aiming to become the new beacon among global intelligent engineering service businesses as the "most reliable provider of smart solutions."
