Digital Transformation for Intelligent Manufacturing Helps to Fulfil Intelligent Solutions Vision

With the introduction of intelligent machinery, plant automation has become a mainstream trend. To further improve the digital transformation and move towards the vision of a smart plant, it depends on the full digitalization, connection and integration of information. In order to assist customers in their digital transformation, the Group Intelligent Solutions Business of CTCI applies digital technologies such as "AI, big data, and the Internet of Things," leverages the advantages of "turnkey engineering" and "intelligent solutions technology," as well as provides "intelligent renovation" services for new turnkey projects or existing plant buildings, so as to help achieve the goal of intelligent solutions.

In terms of "intelligent renovation and system integration", we apply the integration of software and hardware to realize the digitization of plant facilities to help customers improve their competitive advantage. At present, we have mastered "plant system integration," "rail communication system integration," "airport baggage sorting," "carbon emission monitoring" and other businesses, and have continued to make practical achievements, such as the new engineering of self-service baggage check-in at Taoyuan International Airport, the introduction of SPID for China Petrochemical Development Corporation, revamping of Corning Taichung plant, the cleanroom turnkey engineering for Versum Materials plant, etc., which shows the integration efficiency. Based on the experience of these successful cases, we continue to refine the technologies of "engineering, AI, process simulation and control," develop the revamping and intelligent services of hydrocarbon/specialty plants, the energy management system of energy storage industry, and the integration business of MRT, airport, high-speed rail and other transportation systems, and assist customers in various sectors to establish the advantages of intelligent systems.

In addition, "process system control" is also the existing strength of the Group Intelligent Solutions Business. Through system control sensing technology, we can help customers realize plant facility automation, effectively reduce costs and enhance quality and efficiency. "Talin storage and transportation center investment plan" is a recent representative project. In terms of business development, as the government and private enterprises have successively launched the expansion of power plants, LNG receiving terminals, reclaimed water plants, high-tech plants, chemical plants and other important construction in recent years, we will strive for the business opportunities of system control engineering in the above sectors through cooperation with the Group affiliated companies and external partners.

Plant Revamping, Carbon Reduction and Transformation to Improve the Deployment for Green Business Opportunities

Net zero carbon emissions by 2050 has become a global consensus. Driven by the carbon reduction policies of various countries, all industries also have revamping needs for process optimization and energy efficiency improvement in order to reduce carbon emissions in the production process. In the face of this trend, the Group Intelligent Solutions Business of CTCI gives priority to energy conservation and carbon reduction method in the implementation of new plant/revamping projects, while providing services such as energy integration and scheduling system, actively developing renewable energy business, improving the deployment for green business opportunities, and contributing to global sustainability.

In terms of plant constructions, CTCI applied low-carbon plant construction related technologies, and successively established experience and achievements in high-tech plants, large data centers, high-tech special chemical plants, petrochemical oil storage and transportation centers and other fields in response to the rapid growth of high-tech industry and the low-carbon transformation needs of traditional petrochemical industry. Track records include the new construction of SAFC plant and the turnkey civil engineering of the storage tank of CPC Talin intercontinental wharf. In terms of renewable energy, for example, for offshore wind power, we will continue to drive Taiwan towards the goal of "localization of offshore wind power technology" based on the existing capabilities of wind turbine casting plants and assembly plants, offshore wind turbine substructure design and seismic analysis services, HDD horizontal guided drilling, etc. We also gain success in the field of biomass energy. The recent implementation of the new projects of TCC DAKA renewable resources utilization center and the Changbin waste storage and reuse plant are all concrete achievements of CTCI in helping promote the circular economy.

Combining the concepts of green energy and intelligent solutions in construction and development, CTCI has demonstrated itself a model in creating a new generation of smart buildings with a friendly environment for customers. The most representative achievement lately is the Group's second headquarters building, which has obtained three major seal certifications, namely, the US gold level "LEED green building," Taiwan diamond level "IGB smart building," and Taiwan diamond level "EEWH green building," declaring CTCI’s comprehensive strength in green smart building. In the future, the Group will actively grasp the market demand for public construction, corporate headquarters, special buildings/green buildings, and seize the expected upcoming business opportunities in response to the promotion of urban renewal policies in various regions, as well as the accelerated reconstruction of dilapidated buildings, the construction and development of public housing and parks, etc.

Upgrading and Transforming Business Model to Create Digital Operation and Maintenance Services

In order to provide customers with more perfect services, the Group has extended the traditional EPC turnkey engineering services to the operation & maintenance (O&M) scope of subsequent delivery and operation, and successfully established a one-stop service for the whole life cycle of the engineering. Through the perfect digital data establishment in the plant construction stage, the physical plant will be delivered upon completion, and the virtual plant will be delivered concurrently in the form of digital handover, so as to achieve the purpose of virtual and real integration.  In the future, we will further integrate the application of digital tools, including the existing strengths of Group Intelligent Solutions Business, such as "Mr. TIP production information billboard", "Mr. Energy flow management", "Mr. CFP carbon footprint management", "Mr. AI artificial intelligence benefit management", and provide customers with "digital operation and maintenance (Digital O&M)" services, which will not only make the subsequent operation and maintenance more intuitive and convenient, but also reduce errors and costs, demonstrating significant benefits all together.

This "Digital O&M" service applies the digital information from the virtual plant built during the construction of the plant to provide data interconnection solutions, and uses the above-mentioned multiple intelligent systems to help improve the subsequent operational efficiency of the plants. For example: real-time monitoring of production efficiency, production and equipment information analysis, 3D operation information management and application, management quality enhancement, manufacturing quality monitoring and improvement, plant energy consumption management, etc. In terms of business model, we adopt a royalty-based model to continuously provide technical updates and after-sales services to achieve a win-win situation with our customers.
