Service Integration - Stand Firm in the Global Engineering Market

In order to stand out from its competitors, in addition to EPC turnkey projects, CTCI Group also provides innovative engineering services going both vertically and horizontally. Through the new strategy, we hope to stand firm in the global engineering market and be able to provide services of better quality. In terms of vertical integration, we strive upwards for more advanced front-end engineering design (FEED) work. Through the participation of the front-end engineering design, we make efforts to gain trust from project owners and to attract more EPC turnkey project opportunities. Besides, we expand our business scope downwards to maintenance services. As for horizontal development, we hope to be the first in gaining access to international business opportunities through mergers and acquisitions or long term strategic alliances. Looking back at 2017, our innovation strategy has achieved solid results. In addition to obtaining and completing a plenty of front-end engineering design work, we have successfully expanded the EPC service sector. We have completed and re-contracted key projects in Saudi Arabia and Malaysia. Furthermore, we have obtained international projects from new markets, such as JG Summit in the Philippines, Prasarana in Kuala Lumpur, MAXIHUB Co. Ltd. in Vietnam, and Jupiter in the United States.

The United States has always been an important battleground for high-end projects. CTCI has expanded its business reach to the US market in 2010. The company seized the opportunity to enter the US market through successful shale gas extraction. The main business expansion strategies are "Providing Front-End Engineering, Project and Construction Management" and Talent Recruitment of US Management Team". Current on-going projects include turnkey project of Formosa Plastics Group's USA plant and the front-end engineering design project for joint ventures of ExxonMobil and SABIC. Through obtaining business opportunities from new customers, CTCI hopes to strengthen its competitiveness among international engineering companies in Europe, USA, and Japan.

Innovation Advancement – Comprehensive iEPC Intelligent Turnkey Engineering Services

At the beginning of 2017, CTCI has successfully completed Malaysia's largest modularization project "Package 1 Heavy Boiler Modularization Pre-assembly and Installation". With CTCI's advanced modularization engineering techniques, the project was able to be completed with less manpower and less use of equipment. In the end of 2017, CTCI set a world record by completing the "Saudi Kayan Furnace-10 Project" for Saudi Arabia's Saudi Kayan, an affiliate of Saudi Basic Industries Corporation in 18 months. Both projects have marked brand new milestones for CTCI. Turning into the era of Industry 4.0, CTCI not only takes advantage of modular professional capabilities, but also improves and utilizes intelligent technologies as the basis for industry transformation as well as innovative development.

In view of the fact that smart applications are the norm in the future work environment, CTCI has established a group innovation R&D center and actively researches and imports new technologies. On the one hand, CTCI gradually completes the iEPC intelligent turnkey engineering services. It is expected that future applications will include handing over a large number of the main work to robots, carrying out project management by micro-differentiation and agility, introducing virtual reality (VR) and augmented reality (AR) technologies to pre-experience the needs of the actual operations in the future. Sustainability- Expanding Business of Green Engineering Service

Many countries have been focusing on sustainable strategies such as energy saving, carbon reduction and circular economy. CTCI has been promoting Green Engineering for many years. The Group has been involved in various projects such as co-generation, waste incineration power generation, sewage treatment, desulfurization, denitrification, dust removal, dioxin emission reduction. CTCI has been practicing full scale green engineering and has applied its engineering profession to assist the construction of environment-friendly facilities at home and abroad. In response to the urgent water shortage issue, CTCI currently is constructing Kaohsiung Fengshan River public sewage treatment plant, which will be the first reclaimed water treatment plant in Taiwan. The plant is expected to provide up to 1/5 of daily water usage of adjacent industrial zone, which can effectively relieve the water shortage problems. In addition, after the completion of Zhongli sewage project, there will be a water recycling center and sewage system that can serve over 600,000 people and 200,000 households. This project has successfully implemented the sewage system to 32% of the households and is expected to reach 60% of the households in near future, which will reduce pollution of rivers and significantly improve the overall living condition for Taoyuan City. CTCI has invested in air pollution prevention technology for 25 years with many achievements in desulfurization, denitrification, and dust removal. In recent years, the air quality of Taiwan has worsened during autumn and winter. Once CTCI completes TPC Taichung Power Plant 1-4 AQCS Retrofit Project, it will help reducing the impact of power plant emissions on the air quality. In the future, CTCI will continue to participate in various air pollution prevention works. Through green engineering technology, it will lower energy and resource consumption and reduce the emissions of greenhouse gas and pollutants.

In terms of overseas development, CTCI contracted the oil upgrading project of PETRONAS last year. After completion, the company will be able to provide high-quality gasoline products that meet stringent Euro 5 emission standards, creating a win-win situation for economy and the environment of Malaysia. Furthermore, as the demand for industrial sewage treatment and air pollution control in the Middle East is quite high, in the future, we will keep striving for related environmental protection and energy conservation projects and expand the fields of our foreign business. Through environmental protection and energy saving professional knowledge of CTCI, we hope to lay a solid foundation for sustainable development and make an effort to protect global environment.

Talent Cultivation- Global Engineering Manpower

CTCI Group operates on global scale, and every new market is a new challenge. The Group has to cooperate with the local government and businesses. Different environment also comes with different risks. Therefore, in terms of the group's internal corporate management, CTCI hired professional American managers to serve as senior executives of its US company for the first time as one of the strategies to cultivate and expand the local market. Learning from this experience, we must also strengthen international thinking and set up the standard operating procedures in both Chinese and English to enhance international management capabilities.

On the other hand, talent is an important asset of the company. In terms of talent cultivation, CTCI has turned the traditional passive talent-hiring strategy into proactive and deliberate talent cultivation through detailed planning beforehand. We also train these future stars with various promotion programs and job rotation. In order to equip our engineers with a broader international perspective along with communication and coordination skills, our fellow colleagues will have to accumulate experiences by enhancing professional capabilities such as design, procurement and construction, etc. In addition, our colleagues are also required to go through business development and overseas training to strengthen stress management, cross-cultural adaptation, and verbal communication skill. In 2017, CTCI was in charge of a number of FEED projects and the demand for designers has since increased. In addition to continuing recruitment in Taiwan, we have also initiated the recruitment of design talents in India, hoping to boost the growth momentum of CTCI.
