ECOVE of CTCI Leads a New Future of Sustainability

Group Resource Cycling Business CEO J. J. Liao
Human beings build civilizations in pursuit of progress and a better life. However, large-scale exploitation of natural resources and increasing demand for various substances have resulted in the gradual depletion of the Earth's limited resources, critically disrupting ecological and environmental balance. With the pass of Paris Agreement comes the low carbon era. In the face of increasing awareness towards energy conservation and circular economy around the world, CTCI Group expands our resource cycling business to lead the sustainable development of resource cycling both domestically and abroad by upholding our spirit of being "the most reliable".
The Green Brand Declaration
Three Core Areas for Sustainable Development
Regardless of the conversion of materials (garbage, plastic bottles etc.) or energy (solar power), we define them as "resources". Reuse is a form of "cycle", thus "resource cycling" is our positioning.
CTCI Group has been involved in the domestic Energy-from-Waste and waste management businesses for more than 20 years, from the most basic business of Energy-from-Waste to the gradual expansion into recycling and reuse of various materials and resources such as solid waste and wastewater, including recycling of polyester into fiber and wastewater reclamation. Moreover, CTCI Group has recently been increasingly active in the development of renewable energy such as solar power, with the aim of expanding the circular economic system, thereby enhancing the impact of environmental protection. In 2017, the Resource Cycling Business at CTCI Group has built a brand new green brand known as "ECOVE", based on our core purpose of "applying technical knowhow to advance efficiencies in ‘resource cycling’", and is fully committed to the development of our core businesses in Energy-from-Waste, solar power and recycling, which serve as the three key areas for development. Resource Cycling Business at CTCI Group has also established the vision to grow its business scale tenfold within the next 10 years, and declared for the sustainable development of environmental protection and renewable energy, with a view to achieve a real balance between environmental protection and the development of civilization, thereby making the greatest contributions to the Earth and mankind.
Integrating Regeneration Technology
Laying the Foundation of the Incineration Business towards Circular Economy
In the past, we were only able to engage in energy conversion after material recovery at the front end. We now hope to extend it to the back end by integrating both the upstream and downstream businesses in order to develop the circular economy.
The core foundation of the resource cycling business at CTCI Group is waste management and Energy-from-Waste, which aims to convert heat energy generated from incineration into electric energy, thereby laying the first foundation of resource cycling. With the advent of circular economy, we have expanded our goal to turning waste into recycled materials first, and integrating upstream and downstream businesses, with a view to maximize the efficiency of resource cycling. Operations that are currently taking place include recycling of polyester into fiber and wastewater reclamation, with the integration of the engineering professional background of our group into the construction of our wastewater reclamation facilities. In the future, we will continuously apply technology integration, and focus on enhancing the breadth and efficiency of waste resource recycling by combining our group's engineering and smart capabilities and experience.
Transformation of Renewable Energy
Expanding Investment in the Development of Solar Power
With government policies encouraging the active development of renewable energy domestically, we strive to acquire large-scale solar power projects to increase power generation.
Since 2010, the Resource Cycling Business at CTCI Group has set foot in the field of solar power by investing in Lumberton Photovoltaic Power Plant (PVPP) located in New Jersey. The plant was officially opened in 2016, providing approximately 12 million kWh of unpolluted, green electric energy to the local region every year. This investment has been considerably beneficial for the reduction of greenhouse gas emissions and the mitigation of global warming. With regard to domestic development, CTCI Group has currently accumulated the experience of managing more than 15 power plants, with the amount of power generated by solar power plants invested by G.D. Development Corporation (GDDC) reaching 28MW. As the government introduces policies that promote the development of the green energy industry and sets the goal of generating up to 20GW of solar power in Taiwan by 2025, we will not only maintain our current operations, but also strive to acquire large government projects. Furthermore, we will seek suitable partners to jointly invest in the construction of various types of solar power stations (e.g., roof, ground and floating solar panels). The incorporation of industrial technology to adopt high efficiency, high quality modules and the application of smart monitoring technology can jointly enhance the maintenance management and operational efficiency of power plants, thus actively promoting the development of renewable energy both domestically and abroad.
Sharing Green Values
Navigating the Sustainability of Resource Cycling
Our resource cycling business not only showcases our commitment to corporate social responsibility (CSR), but also has become our calling to sustainable development.
With both renewable energy and circular economy becoming global development trends, we will place more emphasis on the efficiency of resource cycling and application of smart data, and cherish every resource to maximize its efficiency. In addition, renewable energy and circular economy are goals actively driven and pursued by all governments, thus they are closely related to public policies, society and local communities. Maintaining good relationships and actively establishing communications with various parties lay the foundation for jointly promoting the development of resource cycling. Hence, we are also actively involved in environmental protection-related issues and community care activities organized by the government and local communities, including adopt-a-beach cleanup, lights off for one hour and promoting environmental education. At CTCI Group, resource cycling is not only one of the ways to demonstrate CSR, but also a calling to protecting the Earth. With the introduction of the brand new green brand, "ECOVE" by the Resource Cycling Business at CTCI Group, we look forward to combining the strengths of our core engineering business and smart technology in order to enhance the green effect of our resource cycling business on global development, thus bringing ECOVE towards setting the benchmark for being the most reliable provider of industry-leading “resource cycling” services.
