Adapting to Environmental Changes

The Task Force on Climate-related Financial Disclosure (TCFD) was set up by the Financial Stability Board (FSB) in December 2015 to develop beneficial solutions and make climate-related disclosures. Its primary role is to provide a clear, efficient and voluntary disclosure framework, and help enterprises in climate-related financial disclosures and in communicating to the users. By introducing the TCFD framework and taking the physics, responsibilities, and transformation risks into account, CTCI will evaluate the climate change risks that value chain partners, suppliers, and CTCI itself encounter. It will accelerate the promotion of CTCI's climate-related financial disclosures and facilitate communication with stakeholders.

Greenhouse Gas (GHG) Emission Investigation

CTCI was required by CDP investors to fill out the climate change project questionnaire and obtained the great results of management level B for two consecutive years. We implement the procedure recommended in the questionnaire every year to review our gaps in climate change management to make improvements to related issues and make it useful.

Note 1:The target is no more than the average of the previous two years.

Note 2:The construction sites include both domestic and foreign sites.

Note 3:Inventory methods include ISO 14064-1, the GHG Protocol─A Corporate Accounting and Reporting Standard, GHG Inventory Registry Guidelines; 2013 IPCC AR5 is adopted for GWP value; EPA's GHG Emission Factor Management Table v. 6.0.3 is adopted.

Note 4:The scope in 2018 has been extended to foreign countries, so the emissions have increased significantly.

Headquarters building

Elevators

▶ Power is switched off for some elevators after business hours and during holidays, and the elevator system operates at minimal demand.

▶ During peak hours, elevators are designated for odd and even floors.

Lighting

▶ Different lighting modes are assigned to periods in public areas.

▶ Motion-activated lighting is installed in pantries and parking lots.

▶ Holiday patrols are implemented ensure no additional lighting is turned on.

▶ Downlights in conference rooms and exit signs in fire escapes have been changed to LED.

▶ Stickers on desks to remind our employees of the lighting areas they can turn on while working late.

Air-conditioning

▶ A portion of air-conditioning is powered off after business hours and during holidays.

▶ Different air-conditioning modes are assigned time periods in public areas.

▶ Switches for air-conditioning are connected to lighting so that both are disconnected at the same time.

▶ Indoor air-conditioning temperatures are unified based on seasonal outdoor temperatures and are recorded for review and adjustment.

▶ Stickers on desks to remind our employees of the air-conditioned areas while working late.

Paper

▶ Document output setting for two-sided printing and encourages the use of recycled paper.

▶ Personal ID card must be tapped before printing.

▶ Reduce paper usage with electronic documents and various E-Flow sign-off processes.

▶ Buy an environmentally friendly paper label.

Resource recycling

▶ Implement garbage and kitchen waste classification.

▶ Implement lunchbox recycling.

▶ Garbage and kitchen waste weighed every day.

Green planting

▶ Use the roof terrace to plant 488.8m 2 of turf to reduce the temperature inside the house to reduce the air conditioning load.

▶ In recent years, we have planted about 170 kelat payas, about 200 Mexican bluebells, and about 520 dwarf albas.

Others

▶ Inverter refrigerators are used on all floors.

▶ Advising employees to heat up lunch boxes in communal steamers.

▶ Copy machines enter energy-saving mode after 60-minutes idling.

▶ Computers not powered off are detected every night, and users of those computers are notified by e-mail.

▶ A portion of drinking fountains is powered off during nighttime and holidays.

▶ Broadcasting reminder to conserve energy every day during nighttime.

▶ All domestic and overseas corporations in the Group participate in the Earth Hour event.
